How many sets of tires did they bring to the race? Damn - looks like it could just spin them the entire way down the strip if he wanted to.

Wayne I was thinking the same thing. With the amount of rubber he was leaving on the track, and the small diameter of the wheels, I hope they have some thick rubber!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

I always thought it would be neat to have a gokart with a 750 honda in it. That close to the ground. Wow. Scary!

I always wanted to build a Jr Dragster with a BIG GNARLY snowmobile engine. I think it would be in 10.s easily. . . .It's Just a Car!
It takes a real MAN to build a hotrod - and not use chevy power!!?

406Rich - Your right, I guess I didn't watch the whole video. I wonder what a pair of slicks cost for that little beast! It looks like fun on a stick to drive!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

40 years ago, on the farm, a brother and myself built a go-kart with a honda305 scrambler engine! 4 speed and all. Some playing with the gearing, we decided that it was safe and cool to keep it below 100. So we geared it to top out at 85 mph.
It did this in less than an 1/8 mile and beat many muscle cars--thru the 1/4!!
Can you imagine what it is like for a 17 year old to be inches in front of an engine turning 12,000rpm at 85, and have a muscle car blow past you about 115??? ( after the finish line).
This cart was nothing like the video of course but it was a wheels up launch, banging gears fun!!
We had it over 120 the first run out before the gearing change, because it was trying to get air too often.
Then we put brakes on it.
The deputies were watching for us too.

did it say on one part of the video 170 mph...wouldn't it be ugly it hit that concrete divider or heck even a rock would get you airborne. but still looks like a lot of fun, you know you would have one of those moments "hold my beer and watch this"

Green Valley Road Course
We lived very close the the "Green Valley" drag strip when I was a kid. My uncle was a sports car racer and in the mid 60's they turned the drag strip and the return roads into a road course. I remember one race and there was a car that was lapping everything on the track. I asked my uncle what kind of car it was and he said home made with an outboard boat engine in it. This car was screaming down the track. It was surprising what would be turned into a race car back then.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
