In 1959, it cost me $500 to rebuild an 8BA, complete with new pistons, cam ("3/4 race"), ground crank, Offy aluminum heads, and a three pot intake; that was a truly sizeable sum at that time, though, took me six months to save it up. Ran it against a guy with a 332 in his '51 Vic, and nosed him over a the lenght of a mile; the two cars were almost identical, other than the engines.
