From Pat to Pat
Wow, sorry to hear of an injury like that, but glad to know the outlook is good. Looking forward to your return to CHR and will add you to my prayers. Best wishes Pat, as others say, do what the doctors tell you!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

I didn't want to bother Pat, but I put in a quick call to him. He says he was burned pretty badly on his back and they aren't sure yet about skin grafts and all. He was stick welding some parts for a friend and somehow his flannel shirt caught on fire. He put it out, and evidently it wasn't out all the way, and before he knew it he was really on fire. Says there isn't much left of the shirt.
I told him we were all concerned and if we could do anything at all for him to let us know through his friend. He says the drugs they are giving him are pretty good, but all the Nurses are married, so he is striking out there. At least he still has a sense of humor.
This should be a wake up call to all of us who weld and work with power equipment in our shops and garages. There is so much there that can hurt us very quickly. My Son Dan has lots of shirts at the shop with big burned holes in them. Evidently there was something in Pats shirt that burned hot and fast.
We wish him a speedy recovery.

Thankyou street racer and Don for the info on Pat's injuries. I too will include him in my prayers. Damn about all the nurses being married Pat, just turn on the Irish charm and one or two may want to play... Al the best in a speedy recovery Pat.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Our prayers are with you Pat, get well soon. I'm fortunate enough to have fire retardant uniforms as a maintenance tech for that very reason, and when I weld at home I always use them. OSHA mandated them for us. I hope you feel better soon.Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas

They want Pat to get as much rest as possable. They are giving him hydro tharapy(water helps so they can take skin off layer by layer). His shirt was burned into the skin on the left side of his back.Thank you for all the concern but he needs rest so please wait to call for a few days.Pat was welding some mild steel flat stock.Stick welding and shirt caught fire.Pat always wears two shirts,so by the time he felt the heat he was on fire.Miller welding jacket has already been orderd.Be carefull in you'r shops fellow hot rodders.Pat has layed down miles of weld without incedent.

Fire is the one thing that scares the BeJesus out of me. Had an accident with the cutting torch and a polyester shop suit years ago....not good. Pat, I hope you didn't get burned badly and can heal up quickly. Do as Joe suggested and get an enema right away.Last edited by techinspector1; 11-08-2010 at 09:04 AM.
