I've been bittin by a rattler but not one of that size. I imagine the venom would kill you pretty quick.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Did you see the snake boots the guy had on? HA! I bet that think had fangs the size of trim nails.

I would first hope that I was at least ten to fifteen feet away when that guy announced his presence, and second that he would stay where he was or near by until I could get back with a 12ga shotgun!! I've learned to tolerate black snakes, garter snakes and similar benign varieties, but any pit vipers tend to die of lead poisoning on my property....Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I have heard that when they get this size they don't fear man. They will come to you. That has got to be at least 6 to 7 feet long.

I had a buddy at Camp Pendleton that hunted rattlers, but I've never seen one that big.Ken Thomas

I would hope I saw it before I came ACROSS it, and I'd sure hie myself in a direction away from it; that thing is just too big to mess with without some tactical planning. Otherwise, I'd prolly just sieze up and vapor lock on the spot, considering my age and all; I used to go hunting the things when i was a pup, and have gotten a few as long as five feet or so, but they don't get as big as that thing here in the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts.Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.
Twistin' and bangin' on stuff for about sixty or so years; beat up and busted, but not entirely dead - yet.

I'm guessing that thing is at least 8 feet long! My hunting buddies call me the snake magnet, because rattlers seem to gravitate towards me. I hate snakes! Last one I stumbled on took 4 shots of snake loads from the .40 cal glock and still kept coming!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

they are common around here. they don't get that big any more because of the hogs. there is also a change going on. they do not alert as much because to the hogs it's a dinner bell. so we have to really watch for them just like the copperheads.
