And they're still out there....
....though this isn't exactly hot rod, still got an engine and wheels.
We've talked on here about how the expectation is for neat ol' hardware to come creeping out of the sheds and garages of the country as the population that grew up or were young adults just after WWII reaches the end of their tour. It seems like every week somewhere on the net someone has a story about some neat old stocker or hot rod that hasn't seen the light of day because ol' Clem had it stashed away. Clem kicked off a few months ago and Mrs. Clem is ready to clean out his "junk".
Well, this might be one of those situations. If you've ever had an interest in motorcycles you know that a few decades back Harley and Indian were fierce rivals. To my taste Indian won the styling battle hands down. Here's your chance to jump all over a neat, ol' barn find....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AITYour Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Wow one of the originals! Probably cost double the going price to get her restored but what a cool find." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

For those who might be interested... This bike was not as bad as the one posted, but might show how they could appear when new.
A few years ago we had an Indian Motorcycle buff in town, with both a Chief and a Scout. He asked me do the Chief in a factory paint scheme called "Rainbow paint", which was offered in the early '40s... in both the red scheme like we did on his... and also a blue scheme. It was an extra cost option, with a $40 dollar pricetag. That would be a great deal of money in the '40s!!!
It was a bit of a challenge, as there are no paint formulas... no color pictures from the '40s... and no bits of old Rainbow Paint on his bike. What we did was to find color photos of restored bikes, look for the common color shades, and did our best to match up the colors with older paint formulas, since the newer colors are too rich and vibrant.
We planned to do his Indian Scout in a scheme that was used on an original factory Scout displayed at a very early "Worlds Fair"! I was sad that, before he was ready, he decided to move out of the area. :-(
Merry Christmas ya'll
