heres the guy who plays buddy, does great!
went to a COOL concert tonight, it was the john mueller recreation of the 1959 winter dance party, tribute to Buddy holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper, who is played by J.P. "The Big Bopper'' Richardson's son. who was born 3 months after the plane crash.
it was incredible. i felt like i was in 1959. even got the lady up for a few dances. we were the youngest in the crowd. few people thought it was very cool we liked the old music. ive been listening to old stuff since i was a little kid, and nothing else. when i was little i learned as much as i could about the trio. i loved there music, when they hit the stage i had goosebumps. i realized this was as close as i will ever get, to the past. i saw many tear up at the 1st few songs, then it was like they were reliving their childhood, alot of the couples were up and busting a rug in no time flat, as i was dancing among them i couldnt help to think to myself, the last time these couples were dancing to this, was when they were my age or younger, and these singers were on top of the charts.
got a few pics with the guys to, will post later. if you get a chance to see this show DO IT! well worth the price.
some of you may remember these guys when they were fresh?, still fresh to me, but you get waht i mean.
i sure had fun talking with some of the older folks and watching them bust a rug just like they did my age, so many years ago.
the show is, called "John Mueller's winter dance party"Last edited by gassersrule_196; 01-20-2011 at 04:48 AM.

Those trailers you posted look and sound great, so close to the originals. I hope that show comes to this area, I'd love to see it. Lots of memories for me there.

I think I still have a picture card with the Crickets on it. I saw them over 20 years ago and they signed it. I'll look in my rock memory book. I've always been a rocknroll nut. Lots of concert tickets in there. Time to hear American Pie.

We do a special celebration on Feb 3rd every year to honor our departed musical heroes. I can remember like it was yesterday walking out into the halls at High School and seeing the girls huddled up and crying and the guys standing around in groups shaking their heads and holding back the tears. That afternoon after school, I was headed home in my 50 Ford and the local radio station was playing Buddy, Ritchie and Jape's songs and I had to pull over to the shoulder and with hankie in hand I said my Goodbyes to them..

We had "Buddy - the Musical, A tribute to Buddy Holly" at the KC dinner theater last summer. It was a great show, but from the video clips you posted this one is much better. Like Don, I hope it comes to KC one day - would love to see it!Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I grew up not too far from there. A high school buddy (no pun intended) of mine lives just a couple blocks off "Buddy Holly Dr." Even though we lived in the area for 20+ years, I've only been to the Surf for 2 concerts. We went to see R.E.O. Speed Wagon and then many years later to hear a local band I don't even remember the name of. Since my folks have passed away we don't get by there much any more. When we do I usually take a left turn to see Chuck and don't go by the ballroom. Hasn't changed much anyway. I have a pic. of the monument to Buddy, Richie & the big Bopper just outside the ballroom entrance & a pic. of the Buddy Holly street sign. They are buried somewhere in the corner of a closet or......?"PLAN" your life like you will live to 120.

Feb. 3, 1959, about 7 in the morning as I was getting ready to head off to school, I was a Sophmore in high school, word came over the radio that Buddy, Ritchie, and the Bopper had been killed in a plane crash. I remember it as if it was yesterday. A sad day at school for sure. The "music" will never die.Ken Thomas
