I wish there were some magic words to help a fellow animal lover through times like these, but there aren't. It is comforting to know that we gave them a lot of love, good care, and made them a true member of our family.
I feed the stray cats who live around our shop every night, and it breaks my heart that they will never know the comfort and safety of living with a family who takes care of them. When one of them stops showing up we always wonder what fate they met, but we will never know.
I am so very sorry to hear of Cloes passing and Gemini's poor health.

Man, you can get a lot of love from dogs, (and cats),they ask for nothing.and give everything in return. My thoughts are with you, from her pictures, she looked to be a wonderful friend!

Thanks everybody.....
We found out Chloe had Hemolytic Anemia at times it is curable but it had gotten a hold of her so quickly nothing could be done even w/the meds we were giving her. In 5 days her blood count went from 23 which was already low to 15 even while on meds. Denise & I know we did was best for her but it is sure quite in the house w/out her. Chloe was a very talkative dog & let her opinion known and she loved everybody & always thought anybody coming to our house was there to she her.
She will be sadly missed but she like the rest of out dogs will always remain in out heart & mind, they ALL have been very special to us.
We have decided not to get another dog at the moment. Denise is now retired so we're going to take this time to do things we have always wanted to do but couldn't because of having dogs(normally 2 or 3).
The only thing I hate right now is it is soooooo quite in the house w/out Chloe here.
Thanks again folks.......joeDonate Blood,Plasma,Platelets & sign your DONORS CARD & SAVE a LIFE

Only people who love animals can understand how you feel right now. Some of the worst days I have ever had were the days I had to say those words I didn't want to say to the vet. But being a loving pet owner carries the responsibilty to know when they are suffering and can't tell you.
You are making the right decision to hold off for a while before considering another pet. I am not a fan of getting a replacement pet because each one is unique and no new pet can take the place of the one we lost. BUT, at some point you may feel it is time to save another little life and give it the same good, loving home you gave Chloe.
Uncle Bob made a comment when we found Lucky the cat and decided to keep him. It was something to the effect that sometimes pets come into our lives for reasons we can't understand at the time. When I lost Sniffy and Scooter to old age, Lucky was there to provide a lot of comfort and has helped with the healing process.

Dispatched Gemini's little soul to the Astral Plane today. God willing, she'll be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.
A friend sent this...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sorry to hear that Richard, but knowing Miss Chloe & being the good momma dog she was I'm sure Gemini is in good company.
