2000 GMC / Chevy ,Junky Frames
Is this an east coast problem only? I get several of these GMC and Chevy 1/2 tons a year in my shop, the same problem, rusted and broken frames. this one arrived today, the guy drove it here, although I don't know how! All that was holding it together was the driveshaft ,exhaust and rear wiring. He had a new rear window installed yesterday, because the cap/topper had shattered it. Is it any wonder GM is in trouble? These are the 99-04 models, most have undercoated yearly. At least Toyota recalled their rusty Tacoma's and Tundra's,but it does keep me in business, so I guess I should say"Thanks GM"

Wow, Never seen that happen here in St.Louis. But we haven't had winter in several years.
With the salt they had to put down this year wonder if we'll start seeing this problem. Guess I better get under the Yukon with the power washer this weekend.

Funny thing is, they don't use a lot of salt on highways here, mostly sand. Man it's dirty material to weld !

I have fixed several Ford Rangers for a similar problem. Dodge Dakotas rust out there also.Anyone can restore an old car, it takes a man to cut one up

I can only say that it's not a problem in Southeast Louisiana. I have several GM pickups of that generation in my fleet. Some have over 250,000 miles on them in commercial use and never seen a frame problem. Seems as if you live in an area where frame corrosion is a problem, taking some preventive measures against it would part of routine maintenance.

I wonder if the problem exists out of certain build plants. At my shop in St.Louis I've never seen that problem.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
