It's all about nostalgia.........
.......so much of what we embrace in this hobby. I got an email forward today that rang a lot of those bells for me. Christmas '67 was my opportunity to see Bob Hope with his traveling road show. Rachel Welch in that blue and white knit outfit.............wooo weeeee! Any of you who had the privelege to see one of these shows probably have your own fond memories. Those of you who didn't are probably still aware of just how meaningful they were. One of those magical events in life to cherish.........

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

How many lives they must have touched and for a short time brought some relief from the reality of the situation they were in. Bob was not only a very funny man, but must have had a heart the size of Texas.
Thanks for sharing that, Bob.

It's all about nostalgia...?
Bob, nostalgia ain't what it used to be; it's a thing of the past.
(Just had to throw that in...couldn't resist.)

Enjoyed that trip, Bob.
Mr. Hope was a pioneer, a legend and a true Patriot.
Back in the late 60's we had a C&W-Southern Rock band that was offered a USO gig and our manager turned it down. Not being able to take our down home music to the Troops was one of the worse disappointments of my years on the road.Last edited by MelloYello; 03-30-2011 at 05:29 AM.
