Ok, I tried.
I've been lurking on the forum ever since the changes, trying to figure it out, and I still have to say the new format just doesn't seem right to me. Sorry, just the way I feel. I keep looking at the first page, wanting to see what subjects are being discussed, but it never seems to change. With the old format as subjects were posted on that one would roll to the top. Not sure how this one works at all.
Think I will just drop by in a week or so to see it there is anything I recognize, but for now it is just too confusing. Hope these changes don't change the forum too much, it was so great the way it was.

Don,
Before the update my screen never updated automatically. I always had to go to the "Favorites" bar and select my "Club Hot Rod" url from there to update the screens. When I come to the computer now I just hit "Today's Posts" and it updates to reflect any new action, much like it has always done for me. I really don't see a lot of difference in how things work, just a little different "look". Hope it gets better for you as time passes, as I really enjoy the posts that you and your boys add to the mix.Roger

I will fix the front page part....
That said, if you look at the "today's posts" link on the navigation bar, it will give you everything in the last 24 hours.Brent Mills

I dont like the condom and sex toy ads that get inserted on the pages...along with dell computer ads, etc. Makes the site look cheap like the LS1 and Camaro sites.

My $0.02 is this !
Any kind of change takes some getting used to and can sometimes be frustrating at first but as long as the members remain the same then the format will eventually become as accepted as the old one. I too liked the old one the best but, for the life of me, I can't remember why? LMAO.

Not trying to complicate your efforts to improve the site, and I realize that was your goal, Brent. It is just that some of us (especially us older guys ) didn't grow up in the Atari generation and for us it is confusing at best to try to navigate these forums.
Maybe my old CHR format was different from other peoples, but when I logged on the first screen I got was the one with members galleries at the top and below it was all of the topics being discussed, regardless of where they were posted. It was so easy to scroll down that list and see what was currently being discussed and what had been discussed recently. As someone posted on a thread it would rotate to the top and then travel down as new posts on other threads happened.
I might be missing that this new format somehow functions the same way, and if so, please excuse me for missing that. Just trying to give some constructive feedback because maybe some others that are not as vocal as I am are feeling the same way. I really like this forum a lot, and the people who frequent it. Would hate anything to make it so different the participation drops.
Thanks,
Don

I don't see anything so different about navigating it, but I am just naturally opposed to change. I'm sure Brent had his reasons though and since it's his forum, he can do as he pleases. The light slate blue background works well for me and like Brent said, when you log on, just click Today's Posts and there you have the same thing that we are used to seeing. I wondered also, where the smilies went, then Uncle Bob said to click advanced instead of quick reply. That doesn't work for me though. When I put the cursor blinky at the end of the last sentence, for instance, then click the smilie I want, the smilie gets deposited at the very first of the message, before the first word.
Oh yeah, I mentioned this earlier, it is aggravating that when you click to post, the whole page jumps to the right about an inch and a half, so that you have to adjust the slider at the bottom of the page to get the page back to the left where it is supposed to be.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Don I HATE COMPUTERS but this is realy basicly the same if you go to the top and click "Todays posts" I think thats the same thing, if you look at the times the posts are made they are in order by time of entryLast edited by cffisher; 04-26-2011 at 03:33 PM.

Yeah Don, that's the same screen that I had as my "home screen". Truthfully, if you simply hit the tab "Today's Posts" the information presented is the same as the old screen, minus the gallery taking up space at the top and minus the advertisement band at the left side which gives full screen display of the threads - a big improvement in my mind. I found the initial bright white screens to be a bit glaring, but this Robin egg blue format is quite nice - easy on the eyes, and good contrast with the text. Sure, it all looks a little different, but Brent has done a ton to make the way it works all but identical and now those who use Facebook, Blogs, and other "cutting edge" features can do that too. Admitedly there are some small differences, like when one hits "Reply" it goes first to the "Quick Reply" format and you have to select "Go Advanced" but nine times out of ten a Quick Reply works just fine. I really think if you spend a bit of time playing with the buttons you'll find it is really very nearly the same - that's what I have found, anyway.Roger

Navigating the new layout couldn't be tough, I figured it out!!! Way I see it, I come to CHR for the people and the straight answers....format doesn't really make a bit of difference once I figured out where the stuff is that I want to see....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
