Hot Foot-AAAA,Dud
I have sneakers that I work in the shop with. They are kind of holy and looks like something someone who would be homeless would own.Comfort zone that is hard to rate.
I was welding together a bench grinder stand.Wide heavy base, heavy wall 2 x 2 square tube, and a smaller thick top.I had it on my welding table so the top and bottom shielded me from slag while I was seated on a stool because I had on my cut-offs.
Now I know,I know, how many more things can I do wrong.Smell something funny.Yepper-a million to one shot, the hole in my left sneaker by my big toe was starting on fire..So now I am doing a dance that hands down would win on the TV show Dancing By the Stars.
Got it out in short order and still felt something warm inside the sneaker.Pulled off the sneaker to find the sock by my big toe had started to turn black, but wasn't on fire.Cool
Why post this whole thing??.Moral of this story is just like in racing,"it is much better to be lucky than good".Also thought I might want to share my silly old self welding with what I was wearing.Yepper kids, don't try this at home.Good Bye

Because it's so hot here in Florida I usually work in my shop in shorts and sneakers. Sparks and hot metal have found their way into some very uncomfortable places and I am still wearing burns on top of both feet from using the plasma cutter. After Pat's injuries from welding I guess we should all learn a lesson though.

Dan was welding something a while ago and one of the sparks shot down my shoe-TALK ABOUT A HOT FOOT!

It's the "it wont happen to me syndrome". A very good friend of mine was building a pipe fence (with out gloves) and had a piece of slag fall and stick to his wedding ring on his finger. He could not do anything. It burned him to the bone! I know I have done stupid stuff! One day the parachute may not open!

Well I did find a round brown round spot on the bottom of my big toe.On the thick skin part and it doesn't hurt or anything.Got me thinking if that cotton sock had really caught fire how much worse it could have been.
Yepper-I don't even have a first aid kit in the shop.I do need to get one.Good Bye
Thank you Roger. .
