Sweet trackroadster Bob, how about starting a thread and posting some build pics - a 'built' thread so to speak.
Thanks, oj

Participation on CHR and a lot of other forums just goes up and down, probably a seasonal thing or something.... Lots of folks get busy in the summer with outdoor activities and save the 'puter stuff til winter. Pretty much the same thing every summer. The fortunate one's who actually got a car done are out cruizin', but they'll be back online when winter rears it's ugly head and it's time to get back in the shop. My schedule never seems to change much regardless of the season, a bit of Hot Rod work every day and a bit of online time everyday....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I can identify with your statement. In Northern California I have a shorter cruising season than my place in SoCal, thus I've started the tradition of the winter project. Last winter it was swapping out the Muncie M21 for the Tremec 600, made critical by the new engine build. Perfectly good Muncie that I wanted to keep that way, and we all know 400~450 lb/ft even in a light car like the T is about max unless you want a paper weight. Next winter it will be just a simple project, EFI, as I drive over 8000' summits all the time for my local cruising.
Finished.........................
And the results, one tall geared little sucker that broke 30 mpg on my last drive to LA. Check the rpms vs. speed, can you say "long-legged". Now before the knowledgable folks say "that is just too high geared, period", the current motor was built with one thing in mind TORQUE, lots of it, and as low in the rpm band as possible. Gave up around 120 hp for this, but 516 lb/ft @ 2800, in a ride that tips the scales at 1790 lbs, through a 5 speed manual with a 0.64 OD to a Jag IRS 3.54 and 31" tires is a real hoot to drive.

That is why I always wear headgear and goggles, not to mention if I don't have my pony tail tucked into the flying helment, I lose a bunch of hair trying to run a brush through it after a drive.

I am one of those who do not post alot because if I don't feel like I can offer something worthwhile, I don't write something. I understand about the frustration that people have when others ask the same question over and over again when there is a search. On one of the sites that I frequent, I used the search once and found absolutely nothing because I didn't word my search appropriately so the puters could not figure out what I was asking in comparison to what has already been discussed. I am an admin on another site and we just talked about this too because people were wondering why there is only a small percentage of people participating on the forum. We decided that we cannot control who uses it or why others don't so we should enjoy what we have. I know I have been gone for a while right after the change, but my absence had nothing to do with the change. My wife had health issues, extremely busy at church, vacation and a dead puter all kept me away. Did I miss this site? Yeah I did, but at the time, it could not fit in my schedule.

Bob, the pics are pretty cool, especially the last one but I gotta add, even with the helmet and goggles, at 113-114mph a grasshopper would probably break your nose , at 2600rpm the engine isn't breathing heavy but what amazes me is, according to the temp gauge the engine hasn't reaching operating temps yet
Keep having fun!

I've only just caught this thread but i've had all sorts of problems getting onto CHR but its getting easier/better, still don't like the new setup but hey ho
I myself used to spend a lot of time on the UK NSRA forum helping people and giving advice but I no longer do it becuase over the time i've been accussed of self promotion, big headness etc etc etc
I helped a guy with the fitting of a 32 screen and folding top on to his car (read not easy) It took me all day and i didn't charge him because i thought he was a mate, Next thing about 3 months later he was heard slagging me off to my own friends !!! He must of known it would get back to me, Weird !!!
Anyways that event just made me not want to help anybody on the forum again so I don't, Its a great shame as others have to suffer for one idiot !!!Its aweful lonesome in the saddle since my horse died.

Steve - When I posted the OP, my intent was to get those folks who drop by for a couple minutes to at least consider coming back and posting. Brent's new format seems to have put many off ,unfortunately - yep, it's new, but we seemed to have learned our way around. I find it the most friendly car site on the 'net. Even if some of us don't always agree, we work around the problem
As far as this site, there have been a couple folks that have been less then desirable and have been warned, left or been banned, but I think you will have to admit that it's a heck of a lot more friendly then NSRA-UK. I sure wasn't made to feel welcome a few years ago, in fact, just the opposite. For whatever reason, their admin made it impossible for me to post even after his assurances via email that there was no problem - bull poo. I was unofficially 'banned' as an American with ideas, opinions and OMG, some skills.
You for sure have been an asset here as have our NZ and Oz folks - even if your English is 'different'Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Something we have talked about on here, and on other forums, is that every forum seems to have a core group of members who chit chat and contribute something (even if it is just "nice job" in reference to someones project) but the vast majority of members are never heard from. We've done all kinds of things to just get them to say "Hi" and sometimes it breaks the ice and they start participating more.
We've also heard the comments that "cliques" form and somewhat dominate the forums. I guess it could be seen as that, but I see it more that we form friendships and commonalities with certain members and the conversation just flows easily between those people, and maybe others feel left out at times.
Another aspect is that not everyone is as outgoing as others. It's like going to a party where you know nobody. Some people will walk right in and become part of the conversations and others will sit back and just listen. Perhaps that is what we see happening on forums too. It also could be that some people feel their opinions or comments aren't important enough, or based on enough knowledge, to add to a thread. They might also be afraid of being corrected or beat up for posting something someone else doesn't agree with.
All in all though, CHR is one of the most gentle, friendliest forums around. There are some BRUTAL forums out there, even worse than the one everyone uses as an example. Brent and Bill have done a very good job making sure it stays pleasant and civil, which is why most of us feel at home here.

Hi, I've been a member here for years, and no I don't post very often. It's certainly not that I don't feel welcome. I wish I could be working on my projects, but economics plays a huge role in that. I do read most of the threads quite often, and I do respond when I feel I have something to contribute. Hank

Outside temp was high 50's and no T-stat. Never go that fast for any lenght of time, took that picture after compression slowing from 140 mph. Had a MB AMG give me a bit of a run, dropped to 4th, ran up to 4900 rpms, shifted to 5th and stayed in it for 2 more seconds just to drive a point home to Mr. AMG Benz guy. I'll bet I'm the last jalopy he ever attempts to pick on.Bob

A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
