I've been debating to add to this conversation but, it appears to be getting hijacked anyway so... I will have to agree with ya'll. but, sometimes I just don't feel like participating, just happy to lurk and read! Maybe sometimes I'm in a "funk" & just want to be a wall flower? IDK..
But I do know it happens at all forums as was said. Another example would be Randy's Header thread, even tho it has gone way off course from it's original topic. It seems like only a few of us participate on that one thread even tho' we ask for others to comment! Why? IDK!! it just happens! LOL.. my point oh two!

I like it Bob! Once had a stock appearing Z-28 that would just up and fly - blew off a BMW one afternoon at 120+ (I know - very, very bad!). He followed me to my freeway exit and pulled up next to me wanting to know what was under the hood. "Just a small block Chevy.." (okay - so it was a "healthy" small block Chevy) - the look on his face said he was going straight to see "Herr Himilich" to see about getting a few more beans for his fifty thousand dollar Bimmer! Hey Steve - good to see you here! I always enjoy your posts and as to those who rip us off or bad mouth the efforts of someone who has genuinely tried to help - that's their problem! You're certainly a true gentleman in my book and I hope to see you posting again on a regular basis..
As to Don's statement - I certainly have developed some friends at CHR and "chit-chat" a bit. That's one of the things that makes this site a favorite as I feel like I'm sippin' coffee with a friend while we pit race and from time-to-time, get to some serious fixin' of what needs fixin!"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Bob,you stirrer,, Isnt it neat to put someone like that in their place..I did it a few years back, when I came up behind an older guy,in a almost new Holden Commodore v8..We were in the Dodge Monaco that I built up about 8 years back..Big ol C body with a stroked B/B (400 out to 451)..I hooked it back to 2nd and nailed it..Ol coot probably never knew it could go that quick..Upset his flash new Holden, big time...
Don,you have hit it on the head,,as I have said before,,this is a user friendly site,,and Lynda and I have formed a few new friendships on here,,and a few more dont go amiss..Its a neat place to hang..

I have just read through this thread and I will /can comment for myself. I have used this and one other site since my joining to help keep me motivated and keen on my build that is patiently waiting out in the garage for me to be fit enough and financially fit enough to enable me to start working on it again. I also believe that is site and the friendly people who I meet on it have helped me personally when I have suffered from the depression that strikes me down at times. I have absolutely no talent compared to most here when it comes to building cars but I enjoy watching and reading others projects and it makes me feel good when I can praise and encourage somebody for a job well done.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

So many good stories and don't know who to comment to first, but two MB AMG dustings in one thread, it has to mean something. I don't follow MB or that tuning arm of AMG, but do they build something hot?
The full story is, I was south bound on I-5 near Bakersfield, going for good mpg and not speed. The Track-T with the new OD transmission I just put in before this trip, is going 75 mph at 1700 rpms. That open roadster at that rpm is so quiet that I hear tire/pavement noise over exhaust note. I eyed the MB in my mirror and figured he was closing at around 10 mph faster than me. Normal pass I'm thinking, but instead, when he is right beside me he nails it, must of kicked down 2 or 3 gears and when that happens, those AMGs are loud. Scared me, even made me jump. I rolled everything on, but at 1700 my response was pedistrian till I pulled 4th and caught him, then at 4500, shifted back to 5th for two more seconds, then compression slowed from 140 to the 113 that I shot with the camera. AMG after quite awhile passes for a second time with 10 mph differiential. No race this time and as he glides past me, I see girlfriend/wife talking to him in a very animated fashion.
I have a 556 hp Caddy CTS-V, and I would be creamed by the T, what is this AMG thing and why do owners of them choose a fight with the T???????Last edited by deckofficer; 08-03-2011 at 08:42 PM.

I would have to agree with Don/Itoldyouso; We have certain people we click with though most of us try to welcome new members on here as well.
I sometimes hear guys complain about answering the same question over and over again, and it does get tiring but this person maybe new to the site and may not know he can go back and look up answers to the same question he had just ask. I know I have tried to go back to threads I have read before and because I could not remember exactly how the head line of the thread started I could not find it.
Most of the time another member will say go back and check this thread to help out, and I think that is a big help rather then getting mad at someone for asking the same question.
Roadster32; I know exactly what your talking about, I have had the screws put to me so many times it ain't funny, then the wife starts in on me after about when are you gonna learn.
I know she is right but I still like to help others when I can, It's just the way I am. I had a so called friend call me and ask to make him some axle plates for his boat trailer. Seems He was pulling his boat back from the lake and he lost his axles because the plates that the u-bolts go thru had rust completly out and the u-bolts pulled right thru them. This guy was supposed to be a perfesional auto painter and said if I made the plates for him he would shoot the paint on my car for me when it was ready. Well I went over and measured everything and made him some 1/2 inch steel plates drilled them bought some new u-bolts and went over and put the on. Anyway got my car ready to get sprayed got the primmer and paint and give the guy a call, now does not have time.
So I stopped by his house and he is spaying some other guys car, after I seen the way he did the other guys car, I was not gonna let him do mine anyway.
I did want to say where was that guy when your boat was in the middle of the street laying on the ground. but I bit my tongue, besides it was not that guys fault.
So once again I had to listen to the wife yell at me. I've seen this site go thru several changes over the years that I have been on here and in the long run I think they have for the most part
always been for the best. Though sometimes it does take some time to get used to. Deckofficer;I hear ya!!! Had a Toyota Supra come up and try me in my old 67 Mustang years ago.
He suprized me at first and got away from me for a second then I had to run him down and spank him. sometime you just gotta do it. HE! HE! HE! thats good Pat.

im new here but i think this is one of the most valuable sources to get information and unique thoughts about cars. I just posted something about a custom 79 trans am hood. I had the idea and have yet to find somebody with the exact same thing on the same year car, take a look and feel free to post on it =]
A "skip" = a dumpster.... but he says it's proper english??? Oh.. Okay. Most of us can see the dating site pun, "matching" with an arsonist.. But a "SKIP? How is that a box? It must all be...
