People's Court-anyone from here???.
Just watched a People's Court on TV.Kind of might have sounded like it was a member from here.Guy in VC has a friend that needs a windshield that is visiting him in VC and is shipping a van back to NZ.So as not to have the costs of shipping the windshield he puts the purchased windshield in the van.Gets back to NZ and some months go by until he tries to install the windshield to find it is the wrong one.The part number is 519.The guy in VC tries to sue the windshield company for now the shipping costs of $1,200 on what is a $80.00 part.
Here is some info that came out of this.Seems there are two national number systems to look up the part. And a Belair 55 is different than the other 55 Chevys.
Guy in VC loses the case by not providing that fact it was a Belair. Also the windshield company is not responsible for shipping after a sold part.
Anyone from here??.Good Bye

Dont know ..Wheres VC?Was it a 55 2dr h/top that he wanted a screen for??cos I know they have a lower roof line than a 55 sedan,,so maybe the guy didnt provide the correct info..Most hotrodders/car people down here have pretty established links to parts sources, and dont get the wrong bits..but there is always an exception to the rule..If I was to bring anything like that in myself, and I was in the position to order it personally,I would have some measurements to check against the new windscreen..
Silly thing is,there are a number of places where that item can be purchased here in NZ,but, not as cheap as up in your neck of the woods,,but in that,he now has to get another,anyway...so nuthin was saved in the exercise..Micah 6:8

That is a rerun, I saw the same case about 6 months ago, maybe more. It was a strange case, and I felt she ruled right on it. Tough for the guy in NZ, but importing parts is always a crap shoot.

It can be risky...Back in about 1998,I got onto a Mopar guy on the east coast, cant remember if it was South Carolina or thereabouts,,and ordered a set of KB hypereutectic slugs for my stroked B/B we were building..To suit 440 crank and rods..No hassles getting them, but when I gave them to the guy who was building the engine,(a good friend),it turned out, that they were for 440 crank, and 400 rods..The wrong ones anyway..I rang the guy and told him,but he insisted that that was what I ordered,so I had to get someone to bring in the correct ones..Boy,that cost a few more bucks..Luckily,I found someone who wanted the pistons I had,so I didnt lose too much..Micah 6:8
