What did you do this weekend?
Well for us, I got back from deer hunting Friday, with an emergency call from the wife about the koi pond(389 gallon galvy cattle trough) leaking. She would have done MacGyver proud with litterally patching the old trough with chewing gum and duct tape! So I replaced the old trough with a new one, and had to get some floating plants to shade the fish, since the new tank and clear water makes a giant reflective light for the poor fish. Here are a few shots( I know not a hot rod thing, just another project!)

Friday, late afternoon,we left,,just a little later,to go to my mothers for the weekend,,Ended up parked up on the highway,at the base of a local mountain(small hill actually)cos there was a semi blocking the highway, after it had rolled, spilling its load of molasses..So we backtracked..through some of the ugliest little goat tracks in Taranaki province,,for 1 1/2 hours, around the spill..Made us a little late..A 4hour trip, turned into a 6 hour trip,in fact..Incidentally..When Mt.Messenger is blocked,,there are very little options for detours,,short of a hours trip back south, then 160km through back country roads,or the way we went,,not for the faint hearted..Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???

We changed internet providers on Friday, faster downloads with no limit on downloads and cheaper.
So far so good right? Well, the installer got everything working except the Remote Access Point in the shop (where I do about 50% of my internet stuff).
So my daughter who originally set up the system came over and we eventually figured out the RAP was bad (it was probably on its last legs when we switched over anyway). Of course the RAP is about 5 years old and THAT particular model is not made anymore.....so I bought a new remote access point .....which we couldn't get to connect with to the old router, so another trip for a new router (basically upgrading from G to N whatever that means). Anyway as of this afternoon all the computers are now on line again.
Somehow I managed to even get a little work on the 37 done.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Dam' little done - mowed, fertilized, put new front brake hoses on my F350(the ABS wire started sawing the old ones through, found while doing a brake job last Tuesday) listened to the rain, sat in the dark AGAIN!! TWICE!! while waiting for National Grid to fix their problems AGAIN. Then for yuks, I cleaned my few metric tools while listening to the rain. We are starting to have power outages every time a sparrow passes gas while sitting on a line - @#$% equity companies. Then for good measure, listened to the rain. I also watched the NY Yankees play Baltimore (they won, 11-10) plus a bit of the drags - all while listening to the rain.
Did I mention this weekends rain - and the local tornado a few miles away that made it to the national news ??Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Saturday worked till 12, then hacked, cut, and chopped until the backyard was clear and clean. Sunday, more of the same but at the inlaws, visited my parents, drove 190 miles out of my way to view a featherlite open trailer 462 miles in all)..Today, drove back up to the trailer and purchased it.(only 252 miles round trip),back home by 2pm, been a couch potato ever since

I had a four day weekend and I got a few things done.
My buddy Mel is helping me on the Bad Ast Chassis build so he pulled his trailer out Friday morning and "camped" in my backyard all weekend.
Friday Mel and I ran into Flint and exchanged the Oxy bottle for my torches and picked up a drawer slide at Home Depot and stopped at Harbor Frieght for 9.99 4 1/2" grinders and rust removal discs.
We built a grinding station out of a free sink base cabinet I had put on casters a few weeks ago.
Added a drawer, tool holders, a shelf and an electrical outlet.
After using it all weekend I am going to add a another outlet so we can have more than two grinders plugged in at a time. This thing is very handy and it is nice to be able to roll it outside for heavy grinding!
Saturday I did the car show in Durand and we had a few friends ocer for a cookout that afternoon and evening. While we had warm bodies available we set the 49 ford pickup cab on the frame so the new owner can have it hauled home on a rollback.
Sunday Mel and I finally got back to work on the Astro. I have decided to go with a shorter shock in the front so we cut down the shock towers to fit.
Mel did a lot of that while I was working on Steering rack brackets.
Sunday night we came up with a fixture design to hold the rack at the right height and angle so we could position it crosscar and build our brackets offthe rack.
Pretty simple really. A piece of 1/4" plate and some angles with tabs tacked on so we could hose clamp the rack in place.
Mel built most of the fixture monday morning while I was changing the wax ring on my daughters main bathroom toilet.... Good Times...
After the fixture was built and we had the rack where it needed to be the bracket build went pretty smooth.
Here we are fitting some of the pieces together.
Did some redesigning on the fly and had everything ready to tack at lunchtime.
Once they were tacked we pulled them off and designed some gussets for the underside to support the rack.
I welded them up and bolted them on for a look-see...
That was my weekend.
Thanks for looking

Took Friday off to go look at a Bridgeport.
Machines and cars are all the same to me. If I go to look at them, I know I will end up buying them.
Nothing changed this time. The mill should arrive Tuesday morning.
I then spent all day Saturday and half of Sunday cleaning out a corner and cutting shelves out of the way so I could have somewhere to put the brute.
Rest of the weekend spent working on the rod and searching the net for VFD and RPC info to run the mill.Pugsy
