A Honest Man
Tonight I watched the farewell on 60 minutes of Andy Rooney.Still alive at 92 yrs old.To me it is one more small pc of me gone.I mean how many more people like that I no longer will see.I do think he was one of the honest men I knew on TV.It is a shame we all get old isn't??.We lose the people that we might as a people need the most.To say in front of everyone what we might be thinking.Maybe shock us into the change that is needed.
I will miss Any Rooney. For many, many, yrs he has been a pc of me.Good Bye

Yup. one of the last with that kind of forthright honesty. he said what he felt and felt what he said. one of my (many) favorite of his closing comments was something like: After last weeks comments, I've been accused of being prejudice. I'm not prejudice................ I do however, have an opinion!

Andy had such a great delivery in his speech, he could say anything and it was interesting to listen to. Sadly, the world we knew is getting older.

Sad indeed. I loved the fact that he said what other's thought but were too afraid of saying. He made 60 minutes fun to watch to the end every Sunday night!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

One of the things I really appreciate about this site is we have our own “Andy Rooneys”. I would never want to take anything away from Andy as I also have enjoyed his wit and wisdom as well as his honest approach. But ya know – we’ve got some pretty wise folks here that tend to “speak their mind” and share life’s lessons as well as a lot of good ol’ hot rod knowledge. I look forward to these discussions as it tends to bring out some great comments and usually reveals a lot about the depth of the folks here.
I always scan the Chevy stuff first, but almost always end with reading through the blogs that endear me to the CHR gang – whether it’s Dave sharing about his precious granddaughters or Barb asking for patience (so to speak) with HEI installation, Tech giving a 400 level college class on valve timing, or Don and Dan jawing about the Old big block – I enjoy the personal side (intentional or not) that this site embodies.
So Gary – keep admiring - and in some small part emulating – the things learned from Mr. Rooney. In so doing, you keep his perspective alive and sharing from your life’s experiences makes us all richer!

I've caught Andy, one of our locals(Albany, NY) many times over the years, but being at the tail end of 60 Minutes that I detest, didn't as often as I should. It would be nice if someone would put a DVD together of his 'favorites' - I would probably buy it.Dave W

I loved his answer when asked "what would you do if you could do it all over again?"
How many of us could answer the same?...at least I'm enjoying the ride!
