those are called vb boots stands for vapor barrier for the air you blow into them they will keep ypu feet warm even at 70 below zero for extended time we were issued them when I was stationed on the due line at ft wainwright fairbanks ak. I got them in.Notice the air valve.Bata is the brand name and there are knock-off,so be careful what you buy.The Bata black ones are go to -20.
