!947 Chevy wiring
Hi:
I am beginning to wire my 47 Chevy with American Autowire Highway 22.
Does anyone have experience that they may share with me on the location of the fuse panel in this particular vintage of auto (Brickman)?
I will be installing A/C. Other items under the dash will be the emergency brake and center vent mechanism.
Thanks,
Bob

If you are asking where you should position the new fuse block, you want it where you can get to it without standing on your head to service it in the future. Since you say you are going to run an emergency brake, which I think means on the left side of the steering column, I would use the right side kickpanel for the fuse block. You can make a removable cover over it, like the new cars have, that can be easily removed to get at the fuses, yet it is hidden most of the time.
BTW, that car is super clean inside.........nice job.

Here is another way to go. My Son Dan has the same American Autowire kit in his rpu and wanted the fuse block accessible, so he made a flip down door that it it mounted to under the dash. When he needs to change a fuse or whatever he just flips it down and it is staring him right in the face. When it is flipped up it is totally hidden.
Just a thought.

On my 37 I mounted it on to the kick plate on the left hand side. Doing that made me put my emergency brake in the center floorboard since I have a colum mount shifting lever. I made a hideway box that has a cover that you can open to get to the fuses. The door is closed with a magnet on one side. Works great for me.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
