    Harbor Freight

Before Christmas we ordered a wireless driveway alert system from HF. I put it in and it worked the first day after that it worked when it wanted to. now not at all. So I call today to see what I should do.. Well Holly Cow their sending me a new one FREE...Now I like Free, and I realy wanted this as we never know when someone is in driveway.

I feel somewhat guilty buying cheap crap at HF, but you know what.....I have a significant # of reasonably good tools that I wouldn't otherwise have. To name a few...

    A cool tubing bender
    Shrinker/Stretcher
    40" metal brake
    pneumatic impact wrench
    pneumatic ratchet
    pneumatic rivet gun
    bead roller
sand blast cabinet (bought somewhere else, but same model and it's great!)
    various sockets
    various wrenches
band saw (don't really like this one much)
A combo slip roll/shear/brake (I sold this, but it was pretty good)
A small English wheel (bench mount)
    pneumatic brake bleeder
    lots of miscellaneous stuff

It's not the best quality, but for my uses, it's great. I also don't like the idea of buying Chinese crap, but sometimes the budget wins the argument.

Probably nothing wrong with buying stuff from HF--just the old "Let the Buyer Beware" axiom holds true.... Don't expect to get a Ferrari for the price of a Yugo!!!! Guess it's all about your expectations!!!

I for one like Harbor Freight. They have a lot of little stuff that I use, like Velcro® and wire ties and stainless steel sheet metal screws and you can’t beat their little 1” and 2” China bristle brushes – I buy em by the case when they’re 49 cents apiece and use them for spreading resin, painting primer, cleaning small parts, etc – then just toss them when I’m done. Joanie (espousal unit) likes the disposable brushes too. Don’t think I’d buy their HVLP spray gun if I was making my living painting cars but I did buy a 12” chop saw for a one time project when I needed to cut angles in 6” x 6” timber.

Like Dave said, “Don't expect to get a Ferrari for the price of a Yugo!!!!”

I also love to take the grand kids to Harbor Freight and give them a couple bucks to buy some little something – lots of bright colored spring clamps, key chains and let’s not forget the free LED flashlights at the checkout. Time with the grand kids is so very precious and I love to see their little faces light up when I ask if they want to go to Harbor Freight.

When I need serious tools or high quality fasteners and such, I’ve got a local tool store and I do some mail order - but just can’t beat Harbor Freight for a fun outing.

    Regards All,
    Glenn
