if not for the property tax i would be ok with texas but i hate the fact that after i retire i will continue to pay these taxes. i will say one thing though, i have survived all the downturns by staying here. we seem to be able to keep going when the rest of the country is at a standstill. which creates problems because everybody that looses their job moves here

but when i retire my income will be less. my taxes wont change. sucks not to have state income tax instead to support the schools.

Move to NY State if you really want to feel the pain. State income taxes but my county property taxes are low(the only NY county still in the black), but the libs have bumped the school taxes to unreal - and they are separate and paid at different times of the year. As I'm typing this, my wife is looking at homes in VA for some relief - but this "move" has been going on for 2 years now.Dave W

Dave my neighbors moved to New York, upstate in the woods and built their dream retirement house there. Only to find out the school taxes made them have to go back to work. They eventually had to selll their dream home in the woods. It just sucks that people work their whole lives to try and retire in peace, then the icrease your tax crowd(that by the way don't pay the taxes for proerty or any other) reap your benefits and mine. Chaps the ass!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

OK, lets talk about Jet Blue-----
The captain did not interfere with the flight crew---the flight crew mutied!!!!!
The captain is the person signed the papers for the flight and he is in control---he is the ONLY person who cannot be charger with interferance of athe flight crew---

Jerry it looks like JetBlue have shut themselves up as well as shut down the the crew as to what really happened. The captain may be in charge - but, and this is all I've been able to find so far, if he's incapacitated, which from all of the reports he had mentally had a problem, "others" took over and possibly prevented a major incident. We'll have to see how that plays out when it does finally become actual public knowledge. It sounds like Osbon is still in a Texas jailDave W

I do not disagree that other crew members took over from a incapacitated crew member----however---The Captain is the Captain , same as on a ship on the high seas and he can't be charged with interfering with a flight crew--
He told the first officer to take over right after lift off and with a 2 man crew , they should of landed immediatedly, not 2000 miles later in Texas(Texas has nothing to do with this)
However, the actions (non action) of the airline, will all most guarantee that this airline's pilots will join ALPA, strictly for there legal protection-------

I find that George Will is often a voice of reason in a sea of insanity, and I enjoy reading his insights on the situation of the world, or sometimes even the situation of baseball. His summation statement today rings true for me:
For the next decade, American politics will turn on this truth: Slowing the growth of the entitlement state is absolutely necessary and intensly unpopular. George Will, April 8,2012.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Sent to me this morning;
Quote of The Day - From Ben Stein: "Fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured....
but not everyone must prove they are a citizen."
