Sorry guys, I think Charlie is right here.... Obama has the union vote, minorities vote, women's vote, and a lot of other segments. The Republican candidate is a flake, he might carry most of the die hard Republicans but I doubt many independents will go with him....
All the stories, parables, and anti-Obama rhetoric means little when the majority of the people who even bother to vote anymore are recipients in one way or another of programs that Obama and his administration supports.
However!!!! If he has no support or majority in the House or the Senate his programs will not come to be, the present state of affairs in Congress will continue, and we're just that much closer to a total collapse of our economic system and our form of government!!!! It's going to take one heck of a campaign to get rid of all the losers and get some folks voted in that can and will actually make a difference! Ron Paul's plans may be a bit on the radical side, but it's going to take radical action to get things back on track.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

it will take congress to change anything. presidents are kaka. they just divert your attention away from the real problems . as long as we have a do nothing congress we might just survive another 4 years of this moron . until we put heat on congress and the senate nothing will change. it is happening slowly. the good ole boys are being replaced.
i live in texas and can tell you ron paul is batshit crazy . 20 years ago before dementia he may have been a good choice but he has been in government 30 years and done nothing. if he had a keeper to tell him to stfu at times he would do better. i like him but he is a nut job .

I hear you, Shine.
Agreed. Ron Paul is goofy.
I'll say that I'm in favor of term limits to clean house in Washington and that ain't gonna happen.
Actually, I'm pretty well satisfied with my congressman. He votes the way I want him to and I would prefer not to lose him, but ..........
I'm in favor of term limits for Chucky Schumer and Barbara Boxer and Dick Durbin and our own "pride and joy" (the lovely Sheila Jackson-Lee from Houston) but not for Michael Burgess.
And I guess that ain't gonna happen either.

Colin Powell was on Leno tonight.Said something that makes sense. Both sides can have strong views and be adversaries, but you don't want to attack each other and create a enemy. That TV and especially cable TV feeds the fire for these attacks. That we need to have both sides find a way back for compromising to be able to get things done.I know it's basic, but a start.........

The challenge of course is to know when compromise is appropriate. Often it's used as a high sounding "idea" when in reality it's self serving hogwash (though MAYBE well intentioned). Let's do a thought exercise.........
You desire to be a free human being. The other guy wants to make you his slave. What's the compromise?
A thief is holding a gun on you and demands you hand over all your money. You, who earned the money honestly, don't want to give it to him. What's the compromise?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Question for Shine
Shine:
You and I (along with other Texans who make their presence known here) are in a distressing situation.
We have to elect a new senator for the Spanish Colony of Texas.
Four guys have indicated that they want the job:
One is a former football star at SMU (played in the same backfield as Eric Dickerson).
One is the present Lieutenant Governor of the State of Texas.
One is an ex-mayor of Dallas,
The fourth is the former Solicitor General (whatever the hell that is) of Texas.
Until recently I had heard nothing about any of these four dudes to indicate that they were anything but fine Christian gentlemen and upstanding members of society.
And that, in turn, led me to conclude that regardless of who wins, we're in fine shape as far as the Senate goes.
Then the campaigning started.
From what I now hear and read, every last one of these miserable slobs is a lyin', cheatin', thievin', communist, racist, perverted, Clinton-supportin', bigoted, cross-dressing, wife beating, cowardly, tax evading, snake.
Not to mention the time-honored "S.O.B.".
Every day my mailbox is crammed with campaign stuff that I would ordinarily call hate mail, and radio and TV do their part in helping to disillusion a poor iggernant country kid like me.
So, brother, what should I do?

all i can say is i dont trust any democrat any more. they have turned their back on the working man in favor of the majority..... you know the ones who sit on their ass and draw from the tit. given what we have to choose from " none of the above " would be best but i have to say gov good hair and his bunch have done somewhat ok by me. we have the strongest economy in the country in my book. if we could just stop oflopa and pelterdy from shoving their socialist bullshit down our throats it would be better. at least perry told them to shove it on several occasions . if the messiah is re-elected i'm for the " united state of texas " .

i dont trust the democratic party as a whole. there are also a lot of republicans i wouldn't trust as far as i could drop kick them.
i dont claim to be a republican or any other party. it is and has been the lesser of two evils for many years. until something better comes along i will stick with it.
i love ole ron paul but the old fart scares me. not sure if he could get anything done with the current congress. could end up locked up again .
