read an article today by a fellow from the uk. charles eisenstien . it made me remember where my thoughts on the economy comes from. i remembered a teacher from some business classes it took . the guy was a little out there but brilliant in many ways. he always said he worked retail and spent wholesale . his # 1 thing was constant growth is not possible. you have to go down to come back up. his key was knowing where it was and being ready for what comes next. kinda like farmers knowing when there's a drought or heavy winter due . i think folks are going to have to learn to live with these kinds of economic droughts. we dont build it all anymore. we dont own the market , not like our fathers coming home from wwll did. i feel we have got to get the house white house full of economic intelligence instead of old bulls snorting . bill clinton warned us in the early 90's this was coming . time for this country to cowboy up and get involved. start voting out the dead weights give the new one 1 term to deliver or can his butt. works in business .

In order to believe the president actually matters you have to not believe he or she isn't a puppet of the party he or she is apart of. That is simply not true.
There are governments that hold recall elections based on a vote of no confidence.I do think that represents the peoples wishes better.Last edited by 1gary; 09-03-2012 at 03:34 PM.

Glad you edited that a little, Gary. My first reaction was "huh?". And I'm still not sure I understand.
It reminded me of the time General Petraeus was called to Washington to report on the Iraq situation.
IRAQ HEARINGS: Sen. Clinton Questions Gen. Petraeus - YouTube
After the General spoke and answered questions, Mrs. Clinton said his comments required "A willing suspension of disbelief", or some such weasel-words. It took me a while to realize that she was calling him a liar.
A liar! General Petraeus, for gosh sakes!

god forbid we should ever elect a president too rich to be bought . i dont see anyone spending that much of thier own money to be someone's puppet. now when you came in empty handed that could be something else. poor people have always hated rich people. not likely to change.

i dont want him connected. i want him to do the job. the job is running the largest economy on the planet and protecting my borders.. obama never ran a lemonade stand. the only president i can think of connected with the common man was jimmy carter and he failed miserably also. we need a snake in the snake den to get anything done. he has to know money , he has to know how to get things done , he has to take charge.
never be a day that poor man will be president . may not like it but that is the fact. and if he was elected he would be easily bought.

Exactly. Obama's job in the private sector was at a law firm, other than that, he was a politician. He has never worked in the private sector directly. Even former Gov Mario Cuomo ( D ) said it in september and it vanished from thin air, Nobody reported on it. John Boehner ( R ) said it last month and he's a bad guy for saying it. I realize Boehner is not a great politician, but he speaks his mind.
The truth of the matter is, Obama is a much better speaker than Romney. He's the kind of person who could sell somthing late at night on QVC/HSN without a clue as to what it is, but people would buy it because he can make it sound good.
At least Romney has a clue how to handle money. More than a clue actually, as he has been down right successful. It's sad many Americans downplay his success as a bad thing.Last edited by Matt167; 09-04-2012 at 02:10 PM.

~Anthropomorphic Nouns~
We are all familiar with a -- Herd of cows,
A Flock of chickens,
A School of fish
And a Gaggle of geese.
However, less widely known is:
A Pride of lions,
A Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens),
An Exaltation of doves
And, presumably because they look so wise: A Parliament of owls.
Now consider a group of Baboons. Baboons are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates. And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?
Believe it or not... A Congress! A CONGRESS OF BABOONS!
That pretty much explains the things that come out of Washington !
You just can’t make this stuff up!!

My point is these guys talk about their parents and what a tough life they had.Well I was brought up by my parents and my Dad worked real hard.BUT,I didn't live my dad's life and honestly because of that,I don't have a clue what it was like for him. And these guys don't either. The Bush father and son where spoiled rich kids.Don't kid yourself about Jimmy Carter and him being a common man.He was quite wealthy with Planter's Peanuts long before running for office.
I was at one time married into Rich Products(coffee rich). Do want to know how screwed up our government is??. During a presidential election without any doubt two yrs before the election was over, Bob Rich knew who was going to be the next president.Bought, paid for, done deal. Why?? Government contacts!!.
A common thread is I once ask Bob Rich why he doesn't stop working??. He told me that is all he knows and the trill of the next deal and earning more money, not that at this point the money meant all that much.Power too.
You just got to wonder why would all these super rich guys run for office that doesn't pay what they are used to getting paid and certainly shortens their lives considerably. I mean before your eyes you do see these guys age. Some come into office wide eyed with all the wonder things they are going to do only to find how limited that office really is. Spend four yrs spinning their wheels never figuring it out. Some are truly just party puppets being told what to say and when.
What I want is a recall election ability where is the government is screwing up,A vote of no confidence replaces all of them.No not just the president, but all of them.Fired, out of there, find a job.I do think that would put the fire under their collective butts.

I swear I would never get involved in political threads like this. And some guys on this one wish I never had. LOL. But what spurs me on is the thought how bad each election gets while I stand here with the case key to the proverbial backhoe to change the landscape of our government for the better. All I need is the permit to make those changes. It might even take a civil war here.Last edited by 1gary; 09-05-2012 at 06:11 AM.

do you have any idea the magnitude of secrecy it would take to do that ? to me that makes as much sense as bush planned 911 .

Not a doomsday story. When the core is so rotten the rest will fall. It's going to take a major mistake electing a buffoon and then the beginnings of it will be dissensions(sp) by branches of the military fueled by public outrage.
Mutt Romba(Mitt) looks exactly like that insider buffoon.

we've already put a buffoon in the white house.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
