Don't see why a person wouldn't vote. But I'd bet they are the ones complaining the most after the election.Charlie

No, I'm talking about Romney, and wondering if he has any plans for solving problems, or if he wins will he just sit in the White House and blame President Obama for having things so messed up he can't fix them in four years, then the next guy can sit it the White House and blame Romney for having things so messed up they can't be fixed and on and on ad nauseum!!!!!
Myself and many, many other people are so tired of the negative bs from both campaigns!!!!! People just don't seem to get it!!!! Making up fairy tales, quoting an excerpt from a speech, and genuinely NOT doing anything positive to support their candidate is going to do one of two things; 1. Convince people that if things are that bad, why bother voting at all? or 2. I haven't heard anything positive from candidate X, guess I'll vote for candidate Y!!!!
The extremists on both sides make their point by lies, half truths, and innuendo. An intelligent voter listens to the facts and will go with the candidate with the most practical and workable solution... Why does anyone even bother listening to the fringe group extremist bs from either camp??? Because it's good for media hype, and it ends up like being a liar's convention, let's see who can tell the biggest whopper about the other guy!!!!!!
As far as that goes, do we want a President who only talks negative about how bad things are, or someone who can just say "that's all behind us", then rule up his sleeves and get to work!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well, then let's hope that people start spreading the message that we have a shot of curing this economic chaos, and spread the word that Romney has a workable plan and quit spreading all the bs that turns a lot of people off to Romney, and to the entire election process itself!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Regardless of which side you are on, we need to figure a way to (1) stop the constant phone crap and (2) get the stupid signs off the street corners. I have never been swayed by a phone call from some campaign worker nor have been convinced to vote for a person by their sign.....well, IF they would do naked signs showing really hot women candidates, I MIGHT be swayed.

I agree!! I heard last night on the news that after being bombarded with complaints the FTC is at wit's end trying to figure out how to address the "robo call" process on political ads, and they have now offered a $50,000 reward to the first person who comes up with a legitimate technical answer to blocking those calls - FTC offers $50,000 reward for a political robocall-blockerRoger

This whole political process has gotten so out of hand it's ridiculous!!! Couple weeks ago I just flat took the phone out of the garage for the reasons Robot mentioned, tired of the dang thing ringing constantly with some bs automatic call thing on the other end!!!! Not just recently either, been bombarded with campaign bs for better then 2 years!!!! IMO taking all the limits off campaign spending made this, the endless TV and radio ads, all the corner signs, billboards, you name it!!! Just too much! When you're bombarded with the crap relentlessly day in and day out it becomes nothing more then a source of annoyance and loses all relevance of a political process!!!! Locally, I've called a couple of the candidates who have volunteers making calls for them (usually at dinner time) and told them exactly what I thought of their bs phone call system and that there was no way I'd vote for them if they were running for dog catcher!!!!
Perhaps one more reason people are fed up with politicians and don't even bother voting anymore???????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I think one of the reasons is the politicians do what they want once in office, forgetting what they promised before the election. I'm not singleing out any one because THEY ALL DO ITCharlie

I would support new campaign rules limiting the campaigning to a month, and putting a spending limit of $500,000 on each campaign, not counting the cost of a three debate series during that month. Let them figure out how best to spend their money. Anything raised over $500,000 goes into the general fund to offset the deficit - not into a continuing campaign chest controlled by the politician.Roger

A few days ago we had some 'discussion' on green energy which includes alternative sources of power then our forever friend, carbon based - oil, coal, natural gas. I found this little gem**, dated 18 October that might give you something to think about:
"So far, 36 companies that were offered federal support from taxpayers are faltering — either having gone bankrupt or laying off workers or heading for bankruptcy. This list includes only those companies that received federal money from the Obama Administration’s Department of Energy and other agencies. The amount of money indicated does not reflect how much was actually received or spent but how much was offered. The amount also does not include other state, local, and federal tax credits and subsidies, which push the amount of money these companies have received from taxpayers even higher.
The complete list of faltering or bankrupt green-energy companies:
Evergreen Solar ($25 million)*
SpectraWatt ($500,000)*
Solyndra ($535 million)*
Beacon Power ($43 million)*
Nevada Geothermal ($98.5 million)
SunPower ($1.2 billion)
First Solar ($1.46 billion)
Babcock and Brown ($178 million)
EnerDel’s subsidiary Ener1 ($118.5 million)*
Amonix ($5.9 million)
Fisker Automotive ($529 million)
Abound Solar ($400 million)*
A123 Systems ($279 million)*
Willard and Kelsey Solar Group ($700,981)*
Johnson Controls ($299 million)
Schneider Electric ($86 million)
Brightsource ($1.6 billion)
ECOtality ($126.2 million)
Raser Technologies ($33 million)*
Energy Conversion Devices ($13.3 million)*
Mountain Plaza, Inc. ($2 million)*
Olsen’s Crop Service and Olsen’s Mills Acquisition Company ($10 million)*
Range Fuels ($80 million)*
Thompson River Power ($6.5 million)*
Stirling Energy Systems ($7 million)*
Azure Dynamics ($5.4 million)*
GreenVolts ($500,000)
Vestas ($50 million)
LG Chem’s subsidiary Compact Power ($151 million)
Nordic Windpower ($16 million)*
Navistar ($39 million)
Satcon ($3 million)*
Konarka Technologies Inc. ($20 million)*
Mascoma Corp. ($100 million)
*Denotes companies that have filed for bankruptcy."

And those big dollars after their names - they come from you and me in the form of taxes and fees paid somewhere to our Federal Government. Really makes you feel good that your 107 days @ 8 hours per day working and the taxes you pay into that hole are being @#$$ed away doesn't itDave W

Interesting, but I do wonder what the source of these numbers are....
So what's the alternative to research into alternative energy sources??? Ignore the fact that carbon based fuel supplies are being depleted and are non-renewable? Keep buying oil from the Mid East where a portion of the money we spend is used to support terrorist elements??? Keep dishing out subsidies and tax breaks to the oil companies in hopes that they will find viable alternatives?
If indeed accurate, the wasted money is a staggering amount, but certainly not the only area where our tax dollars are wasted! How much has been wasted in both human life and tax dollars fighting wars in the Mid East for countries that don't even want us there?
Not all alternative energy research is a waste of tax payer dollars, nor does all the money spent on alternative energy research and development come from tax payers. Friend of mine over in Minnesota AT HIS OWN EXPENSE put up two wind turbines about 9 years ago.... He hasn't paid a utility bill since and he farms about 900 acres, plus has a dairy operation and milks 300 cows daily!!!! Thought it was only fair to show that there are success stories in alternative energy, too....
So, what is Mitt Romney's plan to lessen our energy dependence??? Does he have a plan or proposal at the ready should he win this election???
How about something POSITIVE for the future instead of just more NEGATIVE from the past??? At least occasionally a lot of us would like to hear some good news!!!!!! Or, isn't there any good news for our future and our we destined to do nothing more the espouse the failures from our past????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I just found an update of the article to what I had posted above - still about as bad though when you consider the returns or lack thereof
Figures for four companies have been updated:
Beacon Power received $43 million from the U.S. government, not $69million
Azure Dynamics received $5.4 million from the federal government, not $120 million
Compact Power Inc. received $151 million as part of the stimulus, not $150 million
Willard and Kelsey Solar Group received $700,981 in government funding, not $6 million as originally reported.
The following companies have been removed from the original list:
AES’s subsidiary Eastern Energy, LSP Energy and Uni-Solar did not receive government-backed loans.
The National Renewable Energy Lab did received $200 million in stimulus funding, but it is a government laboratory.
Wind power. I along with most others personally think that's a strong plus for alternative energyDave W

Thanks! It's the most metal forming I've done. I was wishing I had an English wheel and a planishing hammer.
