Just catching up on lots of good stuff here. I think we all realize neither candidate is a stellar choice. So in a sense we can all agree both of the 2 contenders stink to some degree. Secondly I think if you wade through the comments you'll find many people want better education for our kids, just can't agree how to get there.Thirdly we all would like to see more people working and less unemployment, just have different ideas on how to stimulate the economy.
Funny enough living in California, with one of the strongest liberal movements in all 50 states, our public education is going down the tubes. When I was a kid(the 60's-80) We had one of the best public education systems in the country, but now it's one of the worst. Most of the liberal people, when looking to point the finger as to why, will say it's Prop. 13(Jarvis) that fixed our property taxes ,in an attempt to stop forcing the elderly to sell their homes(because of the increasingly high rates). Yet in this strong liberal state nobody has changed that in 30years. So if a politically liberal group, shouting that a politically conservative group caused all our trouble, then it amazes me why they haven't voted a change to rectify this problem in over thirty years? Our conservative leaders will state that our educartion system is top heavy with administrator, and that instead of throwing more money at them, we need to work with what we already have. I guess I've heard the arguements from both sides for so long, and have seen stupid solutions be put foward so many times, that nobody wants to look at where the money is going. The california state retirement program was cush. You work x amount of years, until your x years old, you got
up to 75% of your last threes years average annual income, and you recieved health care for the rest of your life. Heck it was awesome. My mom worked in that system for 35 years. She was one of the unfortunates, in that she only enjoyed 2.5 years of retirement before she passed. But the majority of these folks can live 20-30 years after retirement. It wasn't hard to see that our benefits weren't financially sustainable, and that my friends is what nobody wants to state for fear of losing votes and power.
Ultimately, dump more tax dollars into stimulation of the economy, weakens the dollar, increases inflation, and leads to more unemployement. It hurts any generation to follow. It is not the answer.
Mitt is a politician, Obama is a politician, and they by nature will kiss babies while they are on the camera, and steal thier lolipops, while not being filmed. I think if more people were willing to look at the problems, and not their Party line, we might be able to approach what's wrong with america as a team, and actually solve some of those problems, vs. spouting why one side or the other is wrong, and then shoving an agenda that will never work thru, until enough voters don't buy it any more, and we elect a new spin doctor to lead us down a new path.
Therefore I vote for a new spin doctor, cause the old one isn't doing anything!Last edited by stovens; 10-06-2012 at 10:13 AM.
