I have contributed to SS since 1969 and have made the maximum contribution every year. I just turned 65 and if I retire at 67, I get a measly $2900 a month....doesnt even pay the taxes on the house, the utilities, my Viagra prescription, and gasoline. Had I invested the money in a semi reputable firm, I would be in tall cotton.
RIP Mike....prayers to those you left behind. .
