I heard on the radio yesterday that a few of the political pundits are saying, "....should the President delay the election because of Hurricane Sandy?" It's amazing to me how little some of these public figures know about the system, and how foolish they make themselves look! The election date is set by congress to support the electoral college process, and it is up to each state to determine how their electoral votes are to be cast to support the action of the House of Representatives in their session ordinarily held January 6 following the election. The Constitution, as amended, defines the election process, and no individual can modify the schedule, regardless what Mother Nature does. If the electoral college cannot complete their actions, then the responsibility shifts to the House, as I recall.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

If they wanted to change the date they'd have to ammend the constitution, There is no one in congress now so it can't be done. That is not leagelyCharlie

I know - I'm being nasty again, but I wonder how in that HUGELY Democrat area those poor folks feel about all of their (un)helpful elected officials, starting from Obama right on down to the local ward healer. They are really getting lots of help. NOT!!! Bloomberg at least told Obama to stay away so the emergency people could concentrate on their jobs. So, Obama blows into New Jersey, wanders around for an hour, screwing up recovery efforts, makes some useless pronouncements then takes off for Las Vegas and points West to campaign with the rich and famous - bleeeeeh, barfDave W

........that is until Primary Season starts in the spring, then a few months later, the election signs and ads start all over. Our town has ordinances on sign size and when they can be put up. Some candidates try to hedge on both - doesn't work. I only wish the phone calls and radio/tv ads would vanish forever.
Due to some redistricting (gerrymandering?) we were doubly blessed with 2 primaries this year, but we ended up with a better and incumbant state assemblyman and senator/candidate but an unqualified neophyte for a US Congress candidate. I'm tired of this nowLast edited by IC2; 11-02-2012 at 07:03 PM.
