AMBR award at Pomona
Did anyone see the track-T raodster that won the "americas most beautiful roadstaer award"? So-Cal speed shop in Ca did the car and a buddy of mine who knows Pete at Socal told him the car cost 1.3 mil to build. I know these show cars and Ridler contenders are'nt cheap but yikes!!
Well guees my wagon will have to be just a driver...............lol

Here's a shot of it from the Show Flier this morning. Nice, but $1.3MM? Wow! Must be nice to have that kind of disposable income....

I guess if you have way more money then you could ever spend and want everything on the car hand built as a one off piece....but even at that what would the labor rate per hour have to be to spend that much on a roadster???? I dunno, maybe just a case of 'if you got it, flaunt it???Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I get a little bummed when I see the build attribution to SoCal only. The car was actually built by a guy named Jackie Howerton, he fabbed Indy car stuff for years at his shop on the Speedway property. Hand fabricated virtually everything, and the guy is a detail freak as well as master craftsman. I saw the car around 5 years ago at the SoCal open house during the LA Roadsters weekend and clicked a few. Here are some shots of what SoCal started with when they did all the fine finish work to get it where it is today. I'm sure they massaged each and every part for the guy who bought it to make it show winning capable, and deserve credit for that, but Howerton should be given equal billing at least.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 02-04-2012 at 07:10 AM.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

The yellow shocks look a little out of place, but on the other hand the wear shows it is driven and enjoyed. Nice machine love the metal work, wish I was that good.Is that your face or did your pants fall down?

That is some gorgeous metal work!!! Always refreshing to see a builder who still builds pieces instead of just writing checks!!!!!
I guess when you want an AMBR trophy, sharing the kudos with the people who actually did the work is not done..... Never thought SoCal did business that way.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I could have built that, if only I had the talent, the imagination, the time and oh yes, the money.

Before moving to Oklahoma last year, I lived in Prescott AZ, where Jackie also lives.
Saw the car many times.
Jackie did all the fab and engineering on the car and then it went to So Cal for the fine tuning.
Jackie in a genius.
Too bad he didn't get more credit on the buildWhen I get to where I was goin, I forgot why I went there>
