Super-Bowl
Good Morning! I do not sleeped last night. Watched the super-bowl (German time). An amazing event! Unfortunately my favorites did not win...
I have stupid questions to you guys. On the other side of the big pond you have all options to visit big hot rod events, crazy stunt-shows and all the other stuff. Did you be tired on such events, or is it never enough?

I managed to stay awake thru halftime (Madonna still sucks) and then fell asleep only to wake in time to see the winning touchdown. "CONGRATS to the GIANTS" (Eli rocks).

Stephan - the thread got a little side tracked and my team was the loser as well. I have never seen the Patriots make as many mistakes that cost them a game as that one. I, like Mello Yello woke up for the last touchdown - and even missed the halftime garbage music (Madonna)
As far as hot rod shows, what usually happens is that I end up with a few that I really like to go to, year after year, then a few local shows that might be fun. The 'crazy' stunt shows, seldom will I go, but I do have a grandson that likes the monster trucks so we will attend that show when it comes to town. There is a lot of wasted time, but the trucks are interesting - they are big, noisy, move violently and very much faster then TV seems to show.Dave W

(Looks like Dave & I were typing at the same time again, but we're kind of on the same wavelength...)
Stephan,
We do have a huge range of options in auto events, but events are scattered across our big land area, often in the bigger cities so the average gal/guy cannot possibly go to everything that's out there due to distances and all associated costs. Most people who are fans choose their favorite venue, like NASCAR, Sprints, NHRA, etc, and then pick & choose based on their ability to travel long distances, cost of admission, etc, then attend the things they can. Not sure who actually attends the crazy stunt-shows, but most any show will draw some kind of audience Annual events, like the Superbowl, are huge shows where they seem to try to make the host city a "destination attraction" when it's really just the arena that is the focus. Many of the gals/guys that enjoy building cars/trucks that are special to them are not huge sports fans, spending hours each weekend (or weeknight) glued to the tube watching some "war of titan's" when they can be out in the shop, or participating in some other hobby. Like at our house, my wife is a much bigger sports fan than I am - I'll watch a bit, but I'll probably doze a bit or be paging through the stack of car magizines at the same time....
So Dave, you've got me confused now. Was it the Cubs or Lakers??Last edited by rspears; 02-06-2012 at 06:36 AM. Reason: Simultaneous posts....

there was a game last night ????
i like the small shows. 200 cars or so. the big ones are just too tiring . how can you look at 3k cars . come home stove up from walking 5 miles then setting for a couple hours in the car.

Howdy Shine, do you ever get down to Lucky's Cruise at the Chicken Oil Co. in Bryan on the second Sunday in January?
No fees, no trophys, just tire kicking and story swaping and, if the weather's good there's usually around 400 to 500 cars.
I guess you realize that "by not watching the Super Bowl halftime Show" Y'all missed getting flipped off by that MIA beach !.

OK, gotta' add to my reply here! This morning's front page of the KC Star has a big picture of Eli holding the trophy and the headline "MANNING, GIANTS WIN SUPER BOWL"!! Don't you imagine the whole Giants team just loves that perspective?? Eli, 'Oh yeah, there were some other guys out there too, but c'mon, it's all about me, right guys??' Guess there is indeed an "I" in the word "team" for the Giants? I think his offensive line needs to use the old "step aside and let everyone through" play a couple of times next year
OK, I've exhausted my knowledge of the game.....Roger
