Yup, there's another major issue!!!! The whole race IMO is going to be a driver's race, along with some pit strategy. Got to stay out of the wrecks, stay with the leaders, take care of the car, keep up with the track, and a hundred other things all while running flat out at 195 mph...... Should be easy enough to do, right?????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Yeah, thanks for the heads up on the re-run - I set the DVR to grab that one, plus "...any new event" so I can at least FF through them looking for action. Adding to Dave S', it should indeed be a good race, and I don't think you can count out the TRD crowd, either. They won the Bud Shootout in the first ever with EFI, first ever for Toyota so at this point in the season it's probably anyones race to grab.Roger

There is something to be said about the top runners getting threw all these races this week no problem and doing that for yrs.I watched a program on ABC today called "The Big Time" sponsored by Bud.It was about three novices going threw three challenges for one of them to get to race some of RCR's top three drivers in laps at the Rock.Sure alot more to driving than just turning left.I think this race we get to see the best of the best even if they at the bottom of the field.

Again, and in the Nationwide race, they managed to keep the chassis builders and tin hangers gainfully employed - and another newbie emerged from the scattered debris. This afternoon, another wasted one for the 500. At least the weather is cold and windy and that bathroom tiling job ..... tomorrow is another day.

Fearless prediction time.................Jr. pushes Smoke across for the win on the outside while Cousin Carl and Kenseth hug the yellow in an almost was.

No doubt going to be a wild race, I'd sure like to see Smoke come out on top, just not sure who'll survive to even be there at the end!!! I'd say someone is going to get too anxious too soon and take out the leaders and somebody from "out back" will win---maybe 'Dinger, Kaslowski, or somebody like that.....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Jr will be near the front early - then, as usual, fade to mid pack and finish there or in a mess of mangled metal on a hook. I'll predict a newbie to the winner's circle, one that misses the carnage drives through it and takes home the trophy. Who? After this week, anyone's guess, but chances are he wont make an impact on the 'chase' the rest of the year. Luckily for the rest of the field Waltrip was able to take himself out in the duels before he could cause any 500 wrecks - but Reutiman made it for his new team

I kind of like Dave's thinking. Daytona is one of the harder places to win with all the new teams, rookie drivers, and just plain gremlins that have not been discovered by the teams in their first big time outing of the year. Some newbie wiping out in the back, taking out the leaders as them charge through the tangle's not that hard to imagine.
Edit - I was doing a FF view of the Saturday Nationwide race when I wrote the post above, and had not yet seen the crazy end of race crash that put James Buescher in the Winner's Circle!! Actually my DVR stopped recording with 1.5 laps to go, and I had to quickly go to the post race info to see what happened
Edit 2 - Just got a note from a buddy at Daytona and he says the race may be postponed until Monday for the first time in Daytona history. Still a chance, but a bit ago it was "...raining bucketfuls" at the track.Last edited by rspears; 02-26-2012 at 01:24 PM.

From what I have been reading they might not get the race in until Tues because of rain. We'll have to wait and see.
I saw something yesterday. In the course of yet another interview Danica asked if she could go to the bus.It hard for me to understand the crush of media pressure she must feel added to that her knowing how much NASCAR has put on her as a attraction. And really just a rookie to NASCAR racing just wanting to have a decent finish to add creditability to her skill level. In a way I do feel sorry for her.All that has got to be huge to handle effecting her being able to do her best driving.

Well, here we go (maybe). Break in the weather at Daytona and they're going to try to get the race in tonight.... Got a feeling the Penske cars might be worth watching, too!!!! Heck, they're all good by the time you get to this level of racing!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
