    NASCAR at Bristol

Had the opportunity yesterday (while babysitting my girls!) to catch a bit of Sprint Cup qualifying and practice at Bristol. The Bif has the pole in one of those Roush Hot Rod Fords!!!!!

What was even more interesting, in the last practice yesterday when the teams were doing their fuel mileage and tire testing on some longer runs, the fastes 35 cars in the field for Sunday's race were all separated by less then .4 seconds in lap speed!!!! Should make for yet another very good race at Bristol!!!!!!!

.4 second spread - now that is competition! Put that many guys in the same spot running the same speed... the sparks are gonna fly! Can't wait!

The bull ring always makes for a good show!

It was good to see the Biff get a pole too.

Yeah, my favorite explanation of what racing at Bristol is like came from the late Benny Parsons who described it to be "Just like racing jet fighters in a gymnasium!".

Now that you guys are talking about this, you guys are so on the money/right about the Waltrip's.You would think some Sport TV producer would by now said something about it or NASCAR themselves. What comes to mind is Benny's presentation was soooo much cleaner and honest.

The Nationwide race starts in a few minutes on ESPN---hoping to see one of the points racers win another one and not one of the Cup driver's!!!! Old Elliot Sadler is making a nice comeback, running strong again this week in qualifying and practice!!!!!

I was driving into CT listening to the race on the radio. Until just after the halfway point when I lost the signal...

Just now got home and haven't watched any TV.. I can only imagine what Carl Edwards felt like!

And it's good to see someone else win the deal! It's a good win, they had a good car and worked for it!

Yes, it's always nice to see the kids score a few wins in NASCAR, gets the old pro's all fired up!

Dave DeSpain had the President of Penske on Wind Tunnel last night....with what he was saying it sounds like Roger Penske, 75 years old now, is still busy planning for the future of Penske Racing after the switch to Ford!!! According to him, still nothing definite about Penske doing their own engines or going with Yates power like the rest of the Ford's...

Also, how about all three if the Waltrip Toyota's being in the top 5??? TRD has definitely found some more power!!!!

With NASCAR's current structure and keeping the engines common, Penske will have to buy cylinder heads from Rousch/Yates (R/Y). Not sure if NASCAR will let Penske around that but the R/Y head is the agreed to platform. Blocks & intakes, I would believe it would be in Penske's interest to at least in the beginning buy'em from R/Y and perhaps later develop their own. But they will not get around the cylinder heads, that's the platform set by NASCAR. My 2 cents.

TRD has been a huge influence no matter what form of motorsport! I really believe that the Shrub (Kyle Busch) and his team has melted down at least twice and cost Toyota championships. They've had big point leads and lost it all in the chase. Bad Luck?? To young a team?? Im-maturity?? Or all of the above!
