A lady in my wife's bridge group mentioned last night that her husband still participates in the office lottery pool, fearing that the week he stops is the week they'll hit the big win. Then she said, "Oh, and he retired in 1999!"
I call lottery tickets "Voluntary Tax".Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I agree Roger it is another way to tax us................. Dang it Dave make it a full 1/4 mile and don't forget to add A/C lol
I read where American's have spent 1.5 Billion on this Mega Million win already. there the ones coming out a head as always.
Good Luck to all that are playing and dreaming, let's bring it home.

It's been fun listening to all the media whizzing and moaning about how it's a "regressive tax", a tax disproportionately levied on the poor, and blah blah blah.
I couldn't disagree more, and I haven't bought a lotto ticket in decades (although my bride does). I look at Dave's drag strip dream as an example: how much does a movie ticket at a theatre cost today. And poof! It's over with an a couple hours or less. Depending on when you buy your ticket, a lotto coupon could last for days or exercising your imagination. It's cheap entertainment..................and unlike many forms of taxation, it's voluntary!! Now, if they would only use the money for school funding like they committed in the beginning.................................Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

twenty dollars in gas would fill the lawn mower would have lasted longer. I spent twelve dollars on mega and got the mega ball.
the odds in winning are slim to non but if you don't play your sure not going to win or loose any money.
this was the first time I have played the lottery in a couple years. it was worth losing twelve dollars for the chance to win 640 million to me.

I think that makes sense, Jerry! Can you call the bank and see if we can get a bridge loan, pending award of the lottery money? I think we can go ahead with the purchase, on good faith, and then if things don't work out for some reason we can surely get some federal bailout money, don't you think??Roger

I can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge for a good deal today and today only, but you will have to take care of the shipping and handling.
