    NASCAR at Sonoma

Always an interesting race when NASCAR hits the road courses!!!! I've only been to one of the events and that was a a few decades ago at the old Riverside course. I was very surprised at just how well the overweight behemoths negotiated the track!!! With all the technological advances NASCAR has allowed since those days getting to either Sonoma or The Glen is definitely on my bucket list!!! Caught a little bit of the Nationwide race yesterday at mid-America, Nelson Piquet won that quite handily. For the Danica fans, she was running at solid 5th til the end when Villinue booted her into the kitty litter. Even then she came back to finish 12th!

I always chuckle when the "experts" choose a "road course veteran" to win the race and then that guy finishes well back in the pack!

I didn't see yesterdays race but sounds like Danica found the zone, until, a "road course veteran" gave her the boot!

I live 20 miles from Emporia KS where Clint is from, so he is my "home town boy". It was a nail biter at the end, due to an accident that closed up the field behind Clint. Clint may be a ex dirt tracker, but he has shown that he has plain old raw talent.

I too think Clint did one heck of a job finishing out the race!!!! Getting the lead, staying in the lead, and finishing in the lead all require a different driving technique. Clint and a lot of the other young dudes coming on in NASCAR these days show a degree of talent far beyond their level of experience! Being an ex-dirt burner myself, I always have to take the side of the dirt drivers! With a few more years of experience and the right team with him, Clint has a lot of potential to become a NASCAR season Champ, too! Had to been fun watching a talent like this when he was first learning his way around a dirt track, Les!!!!!!
