Where's Dave W, IC2?
Anyone heard from Dave W lately? Haven't seen anything from him in a while? I guess from the log he's been here, but hasn't seen a need to post.Last edited by rspears; 08-30-2012 at 09:39 AM.

It's just "knuckle rappin'" until you get an unsolicited vacation, right? Seriously, I appreciate your comment, and it's good to know that you're here, even in the background for now. I noticed a "Like" from Barb, who's another that's been MIA lately She probably thinks she slid by unnoticed, but Noooooo!
So Barb,
What's the status of that Monte?? Tearin' up the asphalt yet?? What about that young man of yours? Has he departed for Navy Boot? Status Check!Roger

I don't think so... Been on this site and seen a lot of people come and go....No one is indispensable to a site, for sure!!!! Only thing I've seen change on posting is there's fewer of them, some of that is because most people don't want to post something and have the "experts" tell then they're wrong....Personally I learned not to worry about that stuff, as long as I'm the one doing the building and paying the bills I like getting lots of advice, but in the end it's still going to get done my way!!!!! The only big change was the format of the site, and that was only done out of necessity, there was no "fix" left to the old format!!!!!
Brent and Bill both explained that, and I've never had any reason to doubt either of them..... Some, however, seemed to take the format change as a personal affront to them....why, who knows????
I frequent a few other sites, and as far as a good, clean site with good members and a free exchange of information without a lot of put-downs, CHR is still right up there at the top! As for things being not as interesting, hardly a site problem, maybe the members just aren't as fired up about a project right now as they used to be. Summer time always slows down things on the site, people are just busy doing other things.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Steve, I'll chime in one more time then go back to lurking. This is still my favorite place. While I took Bill (Mr Mustang) to task by implication, I do realize it's his thankless PT job - I just wasn't happy with, as Roger said, my knuckle rap. And if added up, my 3rd under this name and my previous site name. But, that's me so will lurk and jump in occasionally.
Now, as far as being friendly - I belong here, Hotrodders.com and SBFTech, Ford Truck Enthusiasts among others that I visit very occasionally and have to say, no comparison to here. I gave up on NSRA UK after being totally ignored/shunned as an American intruder plus the fact that those running that show dumped my sign in ability several times.
I have noticed that even the huge Hotrodders.com site - they had a fairly recent change in ownership and many of the 'old folks' have gone. It too has changed, and not necessarily for the best as it is probably 70% newbies (we all were once) with less then 25 posts - of which 90% seem to be repetitious Chevy V8 engine questions, all of which have been asked numerous times over the 11 years of that site. But, life goes on. The site changes here - took some getting used to and several of the folks just couldn't cope with the change. So be it! there are sites that will suit their tastes. I miss their input as well and hope that most are not too proud to eventually return.
And yes, I'll hang around, but wont post very often. Sore knuckles at my vintage - hurt, and I am opinionated, so...............Dave W

I agree it's "different", but I attribute it to the fact that the economy sucks, not many are starting new builds at this time of year, the economy sucks, summer time is busy with everyone that has a ride attending some type of event or else attending kids/grandkids activities, the economy sucks, summer vacations, and did I mention the economy and the affect on everything? Seriously, I agree 100% with Dave, whose history here is about double mine on the variations. People come, people go, and the dynamic of the forum shifts with the winds. It's still the best I've found, considering the knowledge base of the members, the willingness to help, and the wide variation of experience in the member base. I've learned a ton of stuff from reading the build threads here, and I thoroughly enjoy it!!Roger

I usually stop in to read the new posts 2 or 3 times a day but do not post much. I ran into some issues with my build and so am in the process of changing cars (same year but better car to work with) so am in the process of cutting off what I need on the first one to fix the second one before my neighbors get upset. Not everybody appreciates an old car that has seen many better days sitting in the drive. Once I start on the new car again, I hope to be updating more. I was here with the old site and I can honestly say I do not even remember what it was like so I guess I adjusted to this format. I am a mod on another site and we have the same issues there and the thing we keep hammering home is that if you think there is not enough interest in posting new threads or comments on old ones, then the only person that can change that is you.

I like CHR because it has a good verity of information from folks that are knowledgeable. They have the hands on experience that forms and refines that knowledge, passed along to help educate and solve a drivers problem. Honest answers to legit questions, car guys with many back grounds supporting this forum.
Generally speaking car forums have a car show feeling to them, think BS and bragging. Here however it is more like a garage where car people drive by, stop to talk cars.
I like the home page with the car pictures that constantly shuffle, keeps me interested, see stuff I might miss if it weren't for that feature. Must agree with most here this is a good forum to visit, participate, and read around...
Well done y'all ....I have two brains, one is lost and the other is out looking for it
Merry Christmas ya'll
