Isaac Strikes!
Well, it's Good Guys weekend in KC, but Isaac put a damper on the activities today! Earlier in the week the forecast was for the front to arrive late Friday night, wash out Saturday, and be gone for Sunday/Monday. Well, he traveled quicker, and the rain started about 12:30 to 1pm and has not let up since! Tomorrow is predicted at 50%, with isolated rain showers in the morning, clearing mid-day, and scattered thunderstorms late. Best we can do is get up and see what's going on, and make a decision to go, or to hang back a while. Kind of a bummer start to the weekend!Roger

It's not like we don't need the rain, being in the midst of one of the worst droughts in recent history, but the timing has put a damper on a lot of folks Labor Day plans, for sure!! Looks like it's set in until around noon here, then we may get some late afternoon thunderboomers if it heats up at all. Sunday may be an OK day, but I imagine a ton of folks will have already headed home by then.Roger

Roger, living on the Gulf Coast of Florida, I can certainly sympathize with your disappointment in the possibility of Mother Nature changing some Labor Day weekend plans. We had to change a few plans when Isaac blew past us on the way to New Orleans. The good thing for you is he will be gone in a day or two but we have to keep a lookout on the next one. I just hope we never have another season like 2004 when Florida was hit by Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne in the span of 6 weeks.
I also hope the rain stops, the skies clear up, the sun shines and you have a great Labor Day weekend!!!!
Mike

Yep, that's a part of the Florida life scene that I don't envy. I was actually working a project, helping to support work at the FPL Turkey Point Nuke Plant down south of Homestead in 2004, and I hopped planes for KC in front of each one of those storms! I remember that summer well, but not with fond memories!!Roger
