I remember one Sunday when it was going slow and some jerk in the stands was really giving me a hard time. I was getting tired of listening to his BS so I yelled out to him that if he thought he could do a better job then get his butt out here. He was sitting with his girl and some friends and that called his bluff. He came strolling out to the center of the track and I handed him the flags and went to the starting line. We asked the next two guys up if we could line them up closer to the center of the track and they agreed. He flagged them off and down the track they went about two feet from him on either side. After they passed him he put the flags down in the middle of the track and walked back to the stands and I didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the day.Ken Thomas

Boy you got that in one..I had my share of working on,and rebuilding Jags from about the Mk1 and 2,(like the white one),through to the XJ series, and I always hated them..The only thing I can say that I liked about them, was the thickness of the panels..Taking them apart and re assembling them was a pain,,and worth every cent you charge the owners.....In fact, most English cars of that era were fun to work on........not....
And,yes,Uncle Bob..it's a mk ix..and the other is a mkv..
another interesting fact...The pre war appearing Mercedes ragtop that was in at least one of the Indiana Jones movies....is actually a Mkv Jag sedan, with the roof whacked off, early Merc front panels, etc,,and is now owned by Sir Peter Jackson, the movie dude,,and it,s sitting in one of Jacksons workshops in Wellington,,along side Chitty Chitty Bang bang.. (todays useless information)....Last edited by lamin8r; 09-09-2012 at 05:35 PM.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
