Wow.Jeff Gordon ran a race that shows the lucky dog thing is no joke. Came in second and is now in the chase.

Didn't get to watch the race, but looking at the results this morning the Hendrick Haters must be in a tizzy...............all four teams in.
At least all the brands have a car in, and wouldn't it be ironic if Keselowski wins the championship in the Dodge?
Could be a tight contest though I think three drivers look to be the ones to watch; BK, Biff, and Hamlin. Coming to the chase they've been the most consistent recently, and have shown they respond to "the pressure". Go get um boys.........Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Can anyone tell me how Gordon got to 2nd? When I dozed off he was 25th and not on the lead lap. I woke up to see him at 4th and moving up fast. I don't quite understand why cars like Hamlin and Earnhardt can run so well for so long and then get caught by fuel mismanagement at the end. Maybe it is as simple that the faster cars get lower mpg and then can't take the time to refuel in the last ten laps or so? It was interesting to see that with the tri-oval 3/4 mile track the speeds are lower and there were few wrecks but apparently the loose-tight-loose handling of the tri-oval still causes problems. It was a shame that the rain hurt turnout but I appreciated the race being on local TV. Probably the Spring race at Richmond is more likely to have better weather and then boy-oh-boy does the local trafic jam up with race attendance!

I think the rain delay messed up all the crew chief's strategies, and of course cleaned the track so after the rain delay it was like starting all over on chassis setup.... The guys with the short fuel at the end were hoping for a yellow, then when they got it pitting would have meant giving up too much track position so some chose to try to stretch their remaining fuel and try to make it to the checkers--some made it, some didn't!!!! As for Gordon, he owes his crew chief and crew for his climb from way in the back to 2nd!!!!! His car was junk for dang near all of the race but with his feedback and Gustafson's changes they finally got it right when it counted and Gordon made it to 2nd, which by the way, pushed the 18 car out of the chase!!!! Jeff certainly did show that he can still wheel one of those overweight stock cars around the track, for sure!!!! Heck, he's been around long enough now maybe he's becoming one of the "old guys" instead of the kid????????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!
