Buying...or trying to...
Why is it that whenever I want something, its either out of stock,or some mongrel is asking a lot of cash for what I want??
We have decided to get a new Weiand Stealth intake, and 600cfm Holley,to suit the Windsor, and the prices are plain,stupid..I have just been on line to Summit, and seen the American prices,,converted to Kiwi dollars, and,I think, even with freight, may be able to get the bits I want cheaper still..The intake,,at about US$172,or thereabouts, equates to NZ$213 approx plus freight, which I may be able to organise..Have been quoted NZ$440 approx..
The 600 Holley,is about NZ$318 plus freight..instead of nearer to NZ$580 already here..Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???

Robin - the buzz word is ----- greed! "We got it, you want it. Now? This is our price, take it or leave it!!"
Speedway will have many of the same items as Summit ( I prefer the Edelbrock Performer RPM, myself after having one on a very warm 351W and now on a mild 302 )Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Dave,,I think you are right there..A lot of the suppliers down here sell at reasonable prices,,or so I thought..Our exchange rate is the best its been in years,,and I know they need to make a profit, but sometimes,it just seems to be greedy..NZ$1.23 for an American dollar today..Its been hovering around that figure for months..
I had an RPM Performer on my stroked BB Mopar,,and it went well..I suppose it doesnt matter too much what I get,cos it's only a stock 302W..Just want a bit better than a 2 barrel..We are making hard in roads into Lynda's Customline, and I want to get on the road in about four months..Still have a lot to do..So,I'm about to go back out for another stretch..Micah 6:8

Be aware too Robin of what charges the bureaucrats may choose to throw at you when importing.
Customs duty for a start.
And if the total purchase is over NZ$200 they may levy gst of 15%.
(gst is supposed to be an abbreviation of 'goods and services tax'...more like grab snatch and take in my opinion!
And these charges can add up to the point where it's not viable to import.
