    Corbeau seats----

Awhile back Jerry posted a picture of a car Cory was working on with a nice looking set of Corbeau seats in it. For the '57 it's about time to start considering column placement, and of course to do this I will need the seats for the car.

Has anybody had a set of the Corbeau seats? How comfortable are they on a lengthy cruise, how well do they hold you in place when negotiating the twisties, etc... I've looked at the pics, read up on all the companies propaganda, and now just wondering if anyone has any first hand real world experience with them????

Dave...............although I can't say anything about Corbeau seats as I have never used them myself or even had buddies that used them.
What I did want to tell you is you may want to look at some seats from a salvage yard. I have buckets from an mid 90's honda that have a lever for lumbar support, another lever that actually raises and lowers the seat and adjustable headrests .
I guess too that for the cost of buying Corbeaus, you could find something nice in a yard that may even be the right color you want and have more amenities already and a lot less money.

Yeah, I've used salvage yards seats on most everything. For this one (my '57) I want a bit more race inspired seats that hold the body in place better plus have the belt cutouts, etc., but it's also got to be something a guy can stand to ride in...As always, weight is an issue, too.....

Dave---you have raced for a long time and in reality you know theres a big differance in car seats and RACE CAR SEATING--------race seats are a work tool and after a while they may give you a callous or blister--------they will support you in place and give you directional support fot forces from most angles (turns) acceleration and braking---if you want comfort put a couch in the rear seat position and one of those mini tv vidieos in the back of the headrest-----------

Well, I want the support, but don't want to ride in a Kirkey for 500 miles either.... Just too old and creaky for that. The Corbeau's seem to be somewhere between an all out race seat and the overstuffed, overweight, oversized OEM stuff.

    Dave,
A friend's into some of the sports road racing and says that the only way to find the seat that's right for your body is to put your body in the various seats and let it tell you which is best. Seats seen in that arena range from the Corbeau's mentioned, Bride Vios III, Recaro SPG's, Momo 1000 Lakes, and Nakamae just to name a few. Another guy said he and his wife love their Bride's seats, and that they even feel good with the padding off. Try Googling "most comfortable race seats" to get to some discussions that might give some ideas.

We were pulling yer leg, Dave, but you'll probably need to find a distributor locally where you can sit in the seat yourself before you're gonna get that perfect match. When the Wiffy and I were shopping for a SUV, the decision was made based on the lower lumbar support that one had over the other. Both vehicles were almost identical except for that and we have certainly enjoyed the DIFFERENCE !

I remember quite a discussion on seats when they were working on building the Boeing 767--back in mid 80s-----they ended up covering them with real sheep skin with wool about 3/4 - 1 inch thick--- of course that didn't last until the later b767-300 or the B777 probably because of PETA----but spending up to 12 hours in one of them can make your legs cramp/charley horse!!!!!!!!!!!!!all you really need is a charley horse in your thigh or calf right at flare before touch down--------

For racing, I would do a welded up seat with a liner from NASA foam and/or thoe beads that set up in resin--

for cruizin---a set out of a late model Corvette-------
