NASCAR at Charlotte
Just catching a bit of the final sprint cup practice at Charlotte, dang they're going fast!!!!! Nationwide race is on ESPN tonight, should be a good one. Nice cool air at Charlotte should help the low hp Nationwide engines go even faster!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Didja watch the race last week? Whata mess! And now Dale Jr. is talking of retirement? He's taken himself out of the car for at least the next 2 races with a concussion. But he and I agree on one thing. Daytona and Talladega is not racing!

Last week was a fiasco, the green-white-checkered thing that fans wanted seems to result in that type of fiasco most of the time!!!!! Seems the mile and mile and one half tracks are much better suited to the speed and power the cars have today!!!! Plate racing puts everyone in a big bunch and at that speed not much has to go wrong to wad up half of them!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I think it's also time to drop'em to 300 cid and get rid of all the spoilers. Slow'em down and keep'em on the ground.

The old ASA rule of 9:1 compression for the engine with max 600 CFM carb sure did make for some great racing for about 10 years in that Division!!! Cars still had good power, could accelerate by themselves thereby not having to run in a pack!!!! Maybe (and the fans hate this) NASCAR speed and power has just outgrown the Superspeedways?????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Bring back stock car racing. Roll it off the factory floor and run it..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

You mean air bags don't work? Ah, that explains why they're not in NASCAR.

I certainly agree that they've outgrown the superspeedways, about 20 years ago!
When they lost just over half the field in one crash "AGAIN"! How many times do we have to see this? I remember Kyle Petty in an interview begging the France family to get rid of the spoilers, make the cars less aero dependant and return the racing like it was in the 60's.. But I guess the France's will do anything to please the fans (and collect the entrance fee!) even at the cost of a drivers life?
I guess that's not fair to say as they've done a lot for the safety aspect but, last week was the worst in recent memory. Something needs to change I'm thinking.
Mr. Yates himself said 10 years ago when Dale Jarrett was his driver, NASCAR needs to drop to 300 cid / drop the compression / and now with efi..... ???????

Yuppers, the engine shops could do wonders with a 9:1, 300ci, EFI engine!!!! The racing would be at least as close as it is now, maybe even better. Next year, the new look 2013 cars will more closely resemble what's in the showroom, and the minimum weight is coming down 100 lbs. Maybe eventually they'll get back to downsizing the engines a bit.... but then look how they held on to the big inch engines before finally cutting back to the current 355 rule... IMO last Sunday's wreck was very fortunate the Jr's concussion was the most serious injury!!!! Had it not been for softer walls, full containment seats, and Hans device....... Seems they would eventually realize that they MUST slow the cars down with fewer cubes..... Really tough to tell your driver he's going to go slower but it's almost inevitable, isn't it??????Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I'm thinking that the fewer cubes and lower compression will slow'em out of the turn, almost exactly what happens with the current Nationwide car(s).. But if they take away the spoilers, it'll force the drivers to drive the car rather than riding in a line-up scared to jump out of a draft.
