Thoughts and Prayers still going out for all our Neighbors to the NE.
If you happened to be one of the "lucky ones", remember to help those who weren't as fortunate.

Not sure how it was last night up your way IC2... but last night was downright frightening! The backside of Sandy ran us over with torrential rain and lightning that would chill anyone to the bone! My basement was taking on water but my 2 sump pumps kept it in check.
Whew! Glad that has gone past!

Virtually not much more than some 30-40mph breezy gusts scattering the leaves on the ground on Monday along with an hour or two of rain last night - 90+% of everything, for once, went around us. Glad to hear you are coping with it though as I was wondering how your part of MA was getting alongDave W

Caught a bit of the devastation on the news this morning, going to be a very long and very expensive cleanup and rebuild out there!!!! When it comes to man vs the forces of nature, we're going to lose every time! Worst part is, as always, the scammers and con artist's will inundate the area and do their best to rip people off! Hope the authorities are reminding the people out there just how "deadly" those piranhas can be!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

We lost power for alittle over a day. Never in my 25yrs in my home have we gone without electric for that long.It sucked sitting in the dark and only being able to listen to the radio. The only thing we lost was some frozen food that we threw out.No problems with the house just lots of leaves all over. I can't even imagine what those people in NJ + NY are coping with. I hear that in some places they won't get it back for a month. The people that lost everything my heart goes out to them. We are donating to the fund to help.

Funny, the shop on Shoemaker never lost power (stop in tomorrow for the absolute auction), had a few hours on and off in Douglassville. Been rescuing family and friends from NJ all week. Last one tonight when I bring my Mother-in-law down from northern, NJ where she has been without heat and electricity all week.

I was working in New London,CT today and a city Board of Works member told me that the Coast Guard (who has there Academy there) called the city and offered 1600 cadets and up to 10 duece and a halfs to put to use as the city saw fit, for cleanups rescues etc...
The city told them "we'll get back to you on that"... The city wouldn't use the cadets 'cause they weren't unionized and the local D.P.U. wouldn't work with them!!
All you can do is shake your head!!

Same deal happened in NJ, a bunch of linemen drove from Alabama too NJ,because they were not Union goons they were told they could not work. It is amazing the lack of intellect of lefty, really shows the care for the people in need. And they walk around in wonder as to what could be the reason the membership is declining. Understandable that they would not have a clue to their problem, they lack common sense.I have two brains, one is lost and the other is out looking for it

Some people sure are free with labels and affiliations!!!! The union has a rule against non-union workers, and that's the fault of the Democratic Party!!!!! Quite a stretch!!!! Oh well, what do you expect from a bunch of millionaire wanna be right wingers???? Thought I'd try a bit of stereotyping myself and see how it goes over!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

So how did it feel Dave? LOL..
How big a Union do you think the US Military is??? And in an emergency / time of crisis?? C'mon... we're not talking full or part time here. No one stealing anyones job!
And it was the city who wouldn't accept the help 'cause they were scared of what the union membership would do or say!
I was in the Teamsters and AFSCME and even the Ladies Garment Workers once!! We'd never turn down the military helping people!!!
