In preparation, trying to remove any wind blown projectiles from the yard.... all the porch chairs went into the wife's trailer and then put it away in the garage. With the only open bay being the paint booth, had about an inch on either side to spare while backing it through the door, never thought about the height.... just enough clearance!

We sent four safety strike teams out yesterday from Calif to the affected areas, today they sent out 150 power line workers from our own PGE, and two c-130`s of equipment to assist in the power restoration..Hope all is well for those that we know..Toys

Southern California Edison, my former employer, is sending 170 people and a whole slug of equipment to New York; and like Rich posted, Pacific Gas & Electric, the other big power company in California is sending 150 workers and a bunch of equipment. This sort of thing happens all the time, but you seldom hear anything about it in the news.Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.

My wife has a cousin, who has a store in Duane Street, off Broadway West ( I think),about a block and a half from Battery Pt..The place is called Stella..High quality house goods,(towels, sheets n stuff,I think) Havent spoken to her,but I would think she may be under water, going by what I saw on the CNN channel, yesterday and today..I hope everyone else up there is doing alright..gunna take a few days to clean this lot up..But,hey,,there seems to be a lot of folk without a job,who could pitch in and earn their dole money..Micah 6:8

no matter what our political and other differences are in this country this really brings tears to my eyes. We go through so much sometimes in this country that makes me wonder if we can come through it. When things hit the fan here we all come together. Makes me really proud to be a american.BARB

I was doing some of my normal on line news wandering this morning and came across this from the UK's Daily Mail. This has about the best graphic photos and really shows how much damage there is in the NY-NJ area:
Hurricane Sandy 2012 pictures: FIFTY DEAD... and it's NOT over | Mail Online
It's long, but worth a few minutes look. Ironic - I'm less then 150 miles from this and all we had were some 40-50 mph gusts and almost no rain.Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

Sure are going to be a bunch of rusty cars starting to show up on ebay and the likes. I'd beware of anything sold out of NJ & NY for awhile. They will hit the scene pretty fast cause they will try to unload them before they start showing, car faxs not going to help.I have two brains, one is lost and the other is out looking for it
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
