That is quite a moving video for anyone who served in the time period from mid to late '60's. Thanks for posting.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

thanks barb .. i never had the oportunity to serve . well i could have joined if i wanted to but i did`nt . the vietnam conflict ended just before i got out of school but it did get several of my older brothers . three of them went thru that mess .. at work a few years ago i in a moment of family pride decided to post a brief account of my families military history as i was and still am proud of it`s heritage .. my great great great grandfather Asa Hyatt served in the revolutionary war no less within George Washingtons command as the Hyatts of my mothers family tree were prominant in maryland and other areas in the north .his son Alan Asa Hyatt served during the war of 1812 . one of Alans sons served in the civil war .. Daniel Franklin Hyatt .. my great grandfather .. there were 645 Hyatts to serve in the civil war .227 for the south .. 418 for the north .. most believed to be kin decendants as the original Hyatts to come to america came in the mid 1600`s from england .. my grandfather John Henry Hyatt served in WW1.. after that the history switches over to my father Oscar Moon who served in WW2 in the navy .. he never spoke of his time then . sadly i dont know anything about my Moon family history .. an older brother served in korea ,, then the three in nam i spoke of earlier

You're welcome, it was a privilege to serve

Thanks, Barb. I have to tell you that it brought tears to my eyes. My beloved Marine Corps celebrates it's 237th anniversary tomorrow, Semper Fi.

Likewise with the tears - thanks for sharing. Rare as it is and as hard as you all may find this to believe, I'm at a loss for words..

Like a lot of guys here, I just tried to do my best as well and I considered it an honor to serve as my father had before me.

Blessings to all the vets (and their families) here at CHR,

Barb, thank you for posting that.

On a side note I use the VA hospital in Tucson on occasion (a first rate facility with a wonderful staff by the way). When sitting in a waiting room, or just walking down the hall, you can easily pick out the different era veterans; WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the ones that I see a lot of now, the Iraq and Afghanistan vets. It’s humbling to be in such company.

    As Barb said,

Happy veterans day and thank you to all of our troops past and present.

Good video, thanks Barb. Lots of good programs and organizations out there these days to help our latest batch of returning Vets! Hope the donations keep coming in so these programs can continue!

To all my fellow Vets,Hope you have a great day! It is refreshing to see our returning Vets are being treated with the respect they deserve once again. For many of us during the 60's and 70's it was not that way when we returned home.My hat is off to American businesses that are doing their part like the ones on this list: 2012 Veterans Day Free Meals and Discounts I always try to trade at places that honor our service year round like Lowes,Home Depot,Autozone and O'Reillys and many others with discounts to show us they care.
