    thanksgiving sucks

Two years ago we were in the e.r. at st. juds hosp. my wife had a stroke (what a life and retirement changer that is) yesterday about 10am. I was getting the turkey dinner ready the phone rang my little brother had a massive hart attack and died (64yrs old) that pretty much killed the holiday spirit but it wasn't over yet about 2 hrs later the phone rang they found my best friend lt'l john dead in his Mobil home looks like he had been dead fore several days so I don't much care for thanksgiving any more and it used to be my favorite day of the year not any more....ted

So sorry for the loss of your brother & friend, Ted, especially tied to the holiday. As time passes maybe the memories of all the good times will overshadow any bad vibes, and become treasures from the past. Thinking of you today as we're working around the house.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray that your Wife is on the mend - - - I had a TIA from a blocked carotid artery in 2010 and it can certainly ruin your day and scare the bejeezus outa ya- - - - altho the coincidence is unusual to say the least, don't give up on Thanksgiving just yet. Please know that you and the missus are in our thoughts and prayers and keep us in the loop on her progress, OK?

27 years with my old gal today, I am feeling for you. I do not know what I would do without her.

Sorry to hear of your losses, Ted. Does ruin the spirit of the day, but I hope you don't lose the thoughts of all the good things we do have to be thankful for.

I am sorry for all that you are going through, especially at this time of the year. Nobody can explain why stuff like this happens, especially all at once, but don't give up and know that there are many people thinking of and praying for you and your family.

I remember some girl singing "This too, shall pass ....".

Not much comfort when it seems that bad stuff is coming at you from all sides, but it's true. Sometimes you feel like the biblical "Job".

    We're thinking about you, Ted.

Sorry to hear the news Ted. Makes celebrating the Holidays seem pretty insignificant.

It seems that if you are lucky enough to survive all of the potential physical problems in life... the bad choices you make in your youth... plus the mistakes of those around you... you also live long enough to start losing loved ones!

We have lost many in the last 10 years, and it seems to be accelerating. We finally found a compromise...

Instead of feeling sad, we finally accepted the 100% probability that we all die at some point. The people who went before us are an inspiration... as we were able to bring many great times to them... and they to us! We were truley blessed to share life experiences with them.

Then we started celebrating how fortunate we are to live long... how lucky we were to share life experiences and love with the people around us... and the fact that we found many wonderful things in our own lives that many are not blessed with.

The saddest thing we face now is that some people around us have reacted badly to other's death... ulimately causing further unnessesary pain and sorrow. We try to make the best of that knowledge, and encourage others to set aside the grief and anger, in the hope of making the best result somewhat possible.

I know that the hardest time is right after losing someone, and maybe some of these thoughts will help you more after you have started healing some.

Don't forget to be thankful for your own good fortunes... and that even though life has some big "speedbumps"... it is better to have lived, than not. God will bless you, if he hasn't already.

I, too, am sorry to hear of this unusual and very rough turn of circumstance, Ted. You and yours are in our thoughts.

    That was extremely well put!
You managed to put into words that which has been in my mind for some time now.
    Thanks.
