I use a Sony Mavica F73. It uses a 3 1/2" floppy. I also use a Kodak Digital (forget the number) which takes incredibly HUGE pics. I like the Sony because I can upload all of the pics on one floppy (usually 20 to 24 pics) in about 10 minutes to my Fotki site. The Kodak pics are so big it takes about 10 minutes to upload one!!!
    Yea, I have dial-up....
Another feature I like about the Sony is it has a 10x OPTICAL zoom... I can focus on stuff less then an inch from the lens. The Kodak can't do that.

You realize NOBODY sells the floppy drives anymore? Ebay is about your only source. I have been buying the floppys for a dollar a box at Walmart when they sale them out.

Just got a Canon EOS 60D, 18-200mm lens. It came with an 8GB memory card, but I'll pick up a 32GB card next time I'm at MicroCenter to ensure not running out of room. My hope is that the 18-200mm will be a good "walking around" lens, to eliminate swapping. I'm still trying to figure out all of the settings on it in order to use it effectively in the creative modes - will probably end up taking a class or two. I also have a Sony DSC-WX5 point & shoot which is 12.5 megapixel, 24mm wide angle, 5x optical zoom to replace the Nikon Coolpix I've been using for a long time. The Nikon took a bath in Costa Rica and started getting funky until I dried it out with a hair dryer.

Roger--saw that package at Costco today---where did you get yours??

I find my 28-135 mm lens works real good at car show cruises--can stand in middle of street and get whole car in pic---and close up for details------
I have revolved from the higher memory chips to the 4 gb--can take around 700+ 800 pics and I just write the starting /ending dates on the chip and after downloading to computer and usb sticks for the electronic photo in the kitchen, put them in my drawer!!!!!!I liked the 8gb, but mine uses compact flash chips and 4gb are available most economical on line--buy 10 at a time------

I got it from Costco, delivered to the house. I saw it on-line while in CR after two guys there had them. A buddy has the same lens, and the other guy had a much more expensive 18-200 with constant aperture (about a $1200 lens). I shopped around, and just couldn't get anywhere near their price by splitting it up into body and lens, even pricing reconditioned components, plus the camera bag is a pretty good bonus, too. Now I've just got to learn how to use it!!

I think yours does video???? the 50 doesn't but will take 6.3 frames /second--usful for recording how a car leaves the starting line--squat, lift, roll---

on actual 4 second passes , shows a lot, but hard to track FC thru the lens, and then I (me) miss a lot of the run----------

I recently got a telescope that I want to adapt it to-----seen some lines on the moon i want pics of---(something IS going on up there)its a set of lines going out from a perfect circular object and seem to be perfectly divided up into 1/3s( 120*) for hundreds of miles?????????

Yes, it does video, but I've read that it's best to use manual focus in the video mode as the auto tends to be noisy in a continuous mode? Over my head at this point. I looked at telescopes several years back, when we moved out into the dark away from the city lights, but found that the magnification level that I wanted was going to be in the $2000+ range. Decided I really didn't need that toy....

Dang - you folks are trying to convince me to go out and trade in my two decrepit Nikons, a D70 and a D70S. Have a bunch of lenses from a 55mm 1.4 prime plus a bunch of Nikon telephotos from ranging from 12mm to 400mm. A few flashes, two Vivitar 283's and a Nikon SB600 along with a couple smaller Vivitars are used too. I do like the CF cards rather then the SD or its variants and have a stack of those, mostly Sandisk in the 1-4gb range. Heck, I don't shoot RAW, so seldom fill even a 1gb card. I've been using a little Nikon P&S too but that just went to camera heaven and Santa has promised me a replacement in a Nikon 9100. I even have a couple of Nikon film cameras left along with their lenses - an N80 which I have used mostly for black and white and a 3# plus F2 lump which one of the kids uses semi-pro for a British food magazines so will never see that one again. There is that Samsung video camera too, but that, so far is not much more then a toy, but have done a few fun ones of the dog playing.

I guess that I hang on to the D70's simply because the newer cameras have way more bells and whistles then I could possibly use - heck, even those D70's have features that never or seldom, anyhow that I don't use and with decent glass, will take photos that are just fine.

Now, my question - what photo processing product do you use? I'm using Photoshop Elements but not their (dis?)organizer and have 'fussed' around with earlier versions of the full blown Photoshop (GE gave me one version, but the disc got damaged). The newest laptop has MS Paint and something else I downloaded as a freebie (with option to buy the full program), both OK, I guess, but usually end up back with what's comfortable

I just use MAC's iPhoto tools for most PP, it's quick & easy. For HDR & more involve stuff I use Photoshop CS4.

Interesting thread for me! My old Nikon quit working couple weeks ago and I've got to go shopping for a new one---eventually. I was in to film cameras pretty heavy a few decades back, then lost interest in them until the digital cameras started emerging. Started out with a cheapo Kodak, moved up to a Nikon Coolpix a number of years back, and now I'm going to go to a digital SLR. Been looking at a couple different Nikon models and a Cannon. Haven't done much studying on them yet, but it's definitely on my round-to-it list!!!!
