I just thank God & an alert doctor for saving my wife. (short version of a long story)
Cheryl went to a cardiologist after having chest pains. He did an angiogram and said there was a minor blockage that could be taken care of with medication.
Medication didn't work.
Doctor said...... Oh yes he did say this when she complained the chest pains were not getting better but actually worse.... Everybody your age can expect some pains as you get older, don't worry so much about it.
Got a second opinion at that point...
Second doctor did some tests, then a second angiogram.
Doc #2 found a 70% blockage in the artery they call the widow maker. It's very near where main arteries intersect so putting in a stent was a little tricky, but he managed to get it done successfully. He says she will eventually need buypass surgery. What was really scary is the blockage was coming loose. If it had she would have been gone. The blockage was acting like a flapper valve, again could have been a bad outcome. Doc said she is very fortunate, as she was a walking time bomb.
I SURE AM GLAD WE GOT THAT SECOND OPINION. NOTE: NEVER TAKE WHAT A DOCTOR TELLS YOU AS ACCURATE JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE A DOCTOR, THEY MAKE MISTAKES TOO
