    Question NASCAR and SB2.2's

The info I ran across was dated some. But it was confusing at the sametime.Basically it said the NASCAR engine builders come up with some real oddball combinations. That during their R & D they even have blocks that use a different bore size in the same block and found something there for more power.Like the first two bores that have one piston size different than the others.Huh??. I don't know if that is total B.S. or what it would be that they found.

Maybe Dave or one of you guys could jump in here to explain this.Yep,just curious.

Oh it was about a boat load of those NASCAR heads around still good but cheap and why they couldn't be used on OEM blocks.Custom blocks with bolt holes moved and bore spacing not the same, etc, etc.

How about a link to that info Gary?????

I have a set of heads that don't exist from the back door of a non existant building without doors or windows---they aren't as wide as the deck surface of the block I have from the other building down the street from that building, but are the same length and 8 out of 10 bolt holes line up but there are anothr 7 or so plus a total of over 30 just fot the rockers and rocker covers not to mention the oil holes plus all the coolant passages-------------

well yep there is many different combo.s on heads and blocks much like big cheif . big duke . and others . the fact its much like a clean sheet of paper many things can be changed most stuff is custom built . know matter how cheap the heads are going to cost alot of $$$ and many custom parts heads are not half the problem .buying a block with no bolt holes in the deck or lifter holes is not a big deal just time and money i have my eye on a new old stock .short deck under 9.800 pro stock bbc thats as no lifter holes or deck bolt holes on a 4.900 spacing . i had bbc were lifter bores were the off set has been moved not that uncommon

them off set and location changed lifter holes do create a math problem---lets see---lay exhaust lobes over 15*, move forward /back
.200, now its simple to add/subtract the 15* for the cam lobes, just gotta remember that I changed the firing order----------
now the intakes were more simple---didn't change angles, just the valve location more toward the center of the chamber , and oh yeh, went from ieieieie to eieiieie---------or was it ieeiieei that I wanted?????????????
