I would go by the casting number. To help verify, check the crank, I suspect you will find it's large journal (the 64 would have a small journal).I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

The letters on the pad at the front of the block (HV) do not match the numbers off the bellhousing (3932388). Check both very carefully. Use a wire brush to brush the letters and numbers to be sure what they are. If you're absolutely certain that they are as you posted, then like Mike said, go by the casting number on the bellhousing. Go with caution before you use the block for a project. It may be a '69 302 block that could fetch good money from someone wanting to restore a Z-28.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

The HV code fits two installations:
1965 Corvette 350hp 327 with theRPO L79 and a 4 speed single 4bbl Holey carb
1969 Impala 255hp 350 with a turbo 350 tranny RPO LM-1 single 4bbl
The block casting 3932388 says it is a 1968-1979 350 with EITHER 2 bolt mains OR 4bolt mains
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
