Direct TV.....
Just checking out what people think about Direct TV. Thinking of switching over for savings (from Comcast) and leaving internet with Comcast.

Not all systems work the same in "ALL" areas, however, my thoughts are - - ?If? you don't have to sign a long term contract and the package offers you all the channels you want then try it and see what happens. You can always change if not satisfied. We had Dish in the country and was pleased with it except for the loss of reception during bad weather - - - actually, when it sprinkled we lost reception hahahahaha Good Luck !.

We had Dish but switched to Direct about 5 yrs ago . Really happy with Direct and you end up getting lots of free stuff . Rain has no effect but I had to brush the snow off a couple of times .

Before you allow direct tv to install anything make sure you are getting everything you asked for. We were told we would get telephone, internet and the TV channels all in one package, they came out and hooked the TV stuff up then told us there was no package deal in our area. Personally I would have stayed with cable, as it is we had to do with out the phone and get internet from elsewhere and we are paying more for it then we did with the package deal from Cable. Also I am not into sports at all so that package was a useless offer to us. They are very good at crooked but legal sales talk kinda reminded me of a car salesmen or a politician.

We've completely ditched satellite and gone full internet on the TV. There's so much more to watch and it's a lot cheaper. We got a box from Wal Mart called a Roku. Through Roku we get Netflix ($8 per month) and Amazon prime ($79 per year). You also get several free movie channels. Between these we get thousands of movies and TV shows of all kinds available for on demand watching. No recording, just go to the show you want, pick the episode you want, and watch at your convienience.
Then we got a free service called TV Fanatic. Just download for free on the internet. Through this you get all the major networks, ABC, CBS, NBC, plus a few others. We use a laptop, and use our TV as the monitor to watch all the shows on these.
Bottom line is we get 100 times the available programming we had before for a fraction of the cost. We get older movies, newer movies, older and current TV shows; it's an endless amount of options. All you need is a good high speed internet connection.Last edited by falconvan; 12-17-2012 at 12:26 PM.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
