Not a hotrod
I have a 2002 S10 2wd. changed the pads and adjusted the shoes (Not that they needed them.) but the ASB light won't go off. is there a reset somwhere? I had a dodge pickup once that had the sensor on the differential. but I don't see anything there.
ThanksCharlie

Charlie, Google it and get to the Chevy S10 Forum. It appears that this is a common problem on the '99 to '03 S10's, and replacing the ABS Module seems to be the prescribed fix. See Post #11 and #30 here - ABS & Parking Brake Lights On. Could use some help - S-10 ForumRoger

yes there was another post about wheel brgs. When I puled the rotor on the left side it was worn as if it had been running on the spindle cocked? I will put a dial indicator on the rotors tomorrow. I realy hate just changing parts. If I find nothing there I'll continue down there list. I haven't priced the module yet but I'm sure its not cheap.Charlie

This was my sister-in-laws truck. She had it worked on about 2 months ago...I went by what the mech. (And I use that term VERY loosly) said. I took it apart and found he had not changed pads I doubt he even took it apart. You can see in the pictures the wear patern on the rotors is like it had been run cockeyed. The truck is an 02, S10 with only 38K on it. I still haven't had time to put an indicator on the rotor yet I hope I get time this afternoon...Things are real crazy around here Sister-in -law died last week and I put my ma in hospital today. this truck will have to wait Roger hope I didn't sound ungrateful with your answer but my plate is a bit fullCharlie

No offense taken, Charlie, and did not even question your response. Sorry about your sister-in-law, and know that having a parent sick enough for the hospital makes everything crazy. Hope things settle out for you quickly.Roger

Not sure about Charlies area, but, salting the roads is common during snow events here in New England and most northern states.

yeah they use salt by the ton but they mix it with sand here and now they are using a cemical of some kind to melt the ice and it dries the road real nice. If you don't was your car / truck often and get the underside they won't last long..Mine is 20 years old and just did rockers and cab corners. but its in the garage not out in the weather all night ..I use it every day as there is 250k on it. Those rotors are not cheap as they have the ABS counters on them, I took them to the parts store and turned them they cleaned up OK so I'll be putting them back on and see what happens..I think he brg race was pressed in wrong.Charlie

It's a lot better now than it was in the 70's.. back then a car that was new in the 70's had a body that would go 5 or 6 years before rust started busting out. Chryslers seemed to be the worst imho! The older cars, 60's / 50's seemed to last into the 70's before the body busted out with rust.
