Bikes,Blues and Hot Cars
This is being put on by a guy by name of Dan Collins( I think),,from the US..Reasonably well publicised, but hasnt got a large number of entrants, though things could change today, being Friday..
Yesterday was a dark day for two entrants, who were on their way to town to enter their 33/3w for the event,,and the front axle decided to dump it's guts on the highway..They got tangled up with a Kenworth and trailer, but luckily for all concerned, didnt get a whole lot of injuries.. Incidentally,,it was a Superbell I beam..We have been through the Magnum issue down here,as well.. Here's a link to the incident..The owners are local people, and have only owned the coupe for about 4 weeks..

Looks like the damage wasn't too severe, all things considered! I expected to see little left of the '33 after tangling with an 18 wheeler!Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Very lucky people..The trucker saw what was happening, and did a good job on trying to avoid it.. not sure how much damage to the rest of the body, but he did his share to the truck,,, Got the front turning up today for repairs..The coupe left for Hamilton,to get repaired, yesterday,no more than 6 hours after the crash....Micah 6:8

Surely there has been enough publicity about these axles.
I'm surprised there are any left out there...they've been talked about at various meets I've attended, they've been mentioned on several forums, and in many magazines.
We're fortunate in that we're not running any, or anything remotely like them.
But if we had been...we certainly wouldn't be doing so now!
Regarding the run itself; we're not taking part.
This is the first weekend for ages we've had off...I'm gonna sit and blob!

There hasn't really been an issue with the Superbell axles,Johnboy,,just the Magnums,so I dont know exactly why it broke..When you consider all the guys in this country who used to heat the old original I beams, and drop them, etc,,and had no probs,( that we know of),and all this is happening with the aftermarket units..Think I will use the 47 I beam I have, and just modify cross member, and reverse eye spring when I get to that particular car..Micah 6:8

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
